Honey fungus was origionally formed as a trio in 2000, as the three of us ventured to the west coast of portugal to play for the winter of 2002.
On return from portugal, we went in to the studio to record 'travel time' with 9 origional tracks. After many more gigs, weddings and partys, rich left in 2004 to travel indionesia, and we were left as a duo. This inspired a different style of writting and we went to shedload studios in london to record a 'more produced' cd of three origional songs we were working on. This resulted in the 'shedloads sessions' cd. These songs are now added to the 'new' travel time cd.
Later in 2004, matt badger joined the fungus to play drums and percussion, and was to acompany us for some of the french alps tour in the winter 05 - 06 season. The alps was a great sucess, and after winning the best band of meribel 2005-6, and securing our gigs for the following year, we decidied to go a bit farther afield to play.
The summer of 2006, we played in the square pub acoustic venue in ayai napa cyprus. Due to mats work comitments we were back to being a duo, and playing 4 nights a week in the square pub with two other duos the 'spokes' and the 'godhead number' It was here in the square pub where we recorded our most recent cd, which is a live gig recording.
We returned once again to the french alps for the 2006 - 07 winter season, and having recieved the best band of meribel award for the second year running, we decided to return to the uk to work on a new cd.
We are currently based in Pembrokeshire in Wales doing some local gigs and putting together our new cd.
