This collaboration between PhemPhat and Universal Music Canada has been a dream of ours for the last 12 years. The Honey Jams compilation CD features popular tracks from some of today's favourite young female artists, along with tracks from 4 undiscovered artists looking to get their big break. The CD name is based on our popular annual Canadian talent showcase for female artists, Honey Jam, and features 4 of our alumni – including Nelly Furtado with her breakthrough track "I'm Like a Bird", Jully Black, Cali and Denosh.
The Honey Jam is THE premiere talent showcase for Canadian women of all ethnicities, and musical genres. Starting in 1995, capacity audiences have been wowed year after year by amazing live performances. Twelve years later, Honey Jam continues to bring top talent to the forefront delivering exciting entertainment with a diverse group of artists representing all genres of music. This year's show takes place on Sunday, August 10 in Toronto at the Mod Club.
The purpose of The Honey Jam is to give female artists from across the country an opportunity to perform live where they will be seen by A&R reps, media, artist managers, seasoned artists and record producers who can further their careers in the industry, and of course potential fans. The CD is a vehicle to do the same on a much broader scale.
Part of the tradition of Honey Jam is also to contribute to and promote women’s charities and we will be making a donation from the proceeds of the CD sales to the YWCA’s programs for women and girls. If you live outside of Canada you can purchase the CD online from www.honeyjam.com.
