BRAND NEW SINGLE
'Love In Time' (Single) - Release Date: 13th July 2009
'Rising Up' (Album) - Release Date: 22nd June 2009
Following their recent Top 40 successes with ‘Numb’ and ‘Fly Away,’ and their Radio 2 playlisted track ‘Choices’, Honey Ryder have announced details of their new single ‘Love In Time’, a cover of a relatively unknown Roy Orbison track.

The London-based duo, Martyn Shone and Lindsay O’Mahony, had a chance meeting with Roy’s widow, Barbara Orbison, following one of their shows at South By South West in Austin, Texas in March. Barbara was so taken with the band that she asked them to take part in a special event at the Gibson Guitar Club in London to mark Roy’s birthday, and suggested 3 tracks for them to consider performing. One of the tracks was ‘Love In Time’, which was released by Roy’s label on a compilation of B Sides and demo recordings just after he passed away. The band teamed up with producers Goldust (Bryan Adams, Natasha Bedingfield) to record their version of the song, and it has since been added as a bonus track on the band’s forthcoming debut album ‘Rising Up’, which is released on 22nd June.
Barbara has been so impressed with the band’s version of the song that she has agreed to fly over to the UK to help promote it with Lindsay and Martyn. “I was brought up listening to Roy, my parents were constantly playing his records, so I was extremely honoured and flattered to be approached by Barbara to take part in such a great event, and to be introduced to more of Roy’s beautiful songs”, says Lindsay.
There is no doubt that Honey Ryder are currently one of the hardest working bands on the UK live circuit. The band have recently played to over 200,000 people across 50 live dates, taking in venues including
the Royal Albert Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall, and performing in front of 10 million viewers on BBC TV for Children in Need alongside The Script and Enya. International interest has also been sparked in the band following shows in Texas, France and Canada, and the band have just signed their first international deal with Canadian label Awesome, distributed through EMI.
Tipped in The News Of The World, The Daily and Sunday Express, The Times and OK!, Honey Ryder have also become no strangers to the business pages of the dailies and Sunday papers. A recent full page feature in Music Week highlighted the unique funding model they have devised for the project, which involves selling shares in the future profits from income they expect to generate. Eligible investors receive a host of tax benefits as the company has been set up to qualify for the government's EIS scheme, which encourages investment into UK startups.
The band’s unique business model has, impressively, caught the eye of former EMI CEO Eric Nicoli who has taken the role of personal mentor for the duo who are proving to have a fast-growing fanbase - including the likes of Annie Lennox, Terry Wogan and Janice Long. Wogan has called Honey Ryder “mean, moody & magnificent”, while Long has already booked the band for a 2nd live session towards the end of June for her Radio 2 show.
