Sun - 1st St. Bar, Encinitas w/ The Dilfs Rand's professional career has spanned over 15 years as he has played with many different groups throughout the western United States.

He founded the band Freshly Baked in Los Angeles in 1993. The band recorded 5 albums and performed over 1000 shows until the Baked disbanded in 2000.

Rand also played in Los Angeles with Ramsay Midwood, Dave Wakeling(English Beat), 15 Mary Thompsons, Qunicy, Boogie Messiah, Jess Jamboree. In addition, Rand played with popular Grateful Dead cover bands - Remanants of Eden, Cubensis and Suns of The Dead.

Rand moved to Flagstaff, Arizona in 2000 and immediately fell into several bands. He toured the southwest with such reggae bands as Bredren, Casper and the 602 Band, Shredlocks,and Sai Baba. Funk/Jam Bands include, Wookiee, Wet Beaver Project, Cosmic Debris, Barefoot, Rand Band. Country/Bluegrass bands - Smoking Bones, Hardly Heard, Gravy, Nolan McKelvey & 33, Harry Luge and Haywire.

Rand moved back to Southern California to work on becoming a professional surfer. Meanwhile he got busy with many regional acts - Wise Monkey Orchestra, Latch Key Kid, Buffalo California, Christopher Hawley, Old Bull, Amilia Spicer, Tom Curren, Franklin Lounge and The Roadkill Kings.

He has filled in, sat-in, and recorded for many national diverse acts including, Shanti Groove, Eric Lindell, Vince Herman (Leftover Salmon), Bruce Hayes, Electrobek, Slackstring, Telescope, Justin Siminson, JD Rogers, Jonathan Candler, New Direction, Universalia Jane, Don Ellis, Marthia Sides. Rand has had the honor of having shared the stage with such diverse performers as Sublime, Jimmy Cliff, Gretchen Wilson, Big & Rich, Tanya Tucker, Eek A Mouse, Burning Spear, The Wailers, Jazz Is Dead, Jerry Garcia Band, Los Lobos, Sonia Dada, Merl Saunders, Donna Godchaux, David Grisman, Tony Rice, David Nelson Band, Norman Blake, Missing Man Formation, KVHW, Steve Kimock, Jefferson Airthing?, Electric Light Orchestra, Pat Green, Marc Chestnut, Robert Earl Keen, Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers, Drew Emmitt Band, Richie Havens, North Mississippi All-Stars.
