the Blind Dead templars, Satanic sacrifices, black magic rites, blood ceremonies, scantily clad women running through graveyards, unleashing demons from the abyss, the curse of Waldemar Daninsky, dank crypts, rotting tombs, witches and all matter of horror and evil that occurs at the stroke of midnight
Sounds Like
Winter, Candlemass, Cathedral, Asphyx, Hellhammer, Black Sabbath, early Paradise Lost, Autopsy...
It all started in June of 2007 when three doom/death -loving freaks got together to jam some Candlemass cover songs but using old school death metal style vocals instead. They were having so much fun that they decided to start writing their own material, very much influenced by the first Cathedral album, Winter, and Asphyx. They wanted to do play really doom-laden death metal that combined crushing and somber riffs with just a slight hint of melody that comes from their love for the early Candlemass albums from the 80's.
The band continued to jam but still didn't have a band name yet. The guitarist and vocalist Lasse (also known from the cult Finnish death metal band Phlegethon and death/grinders Vacant Coffin) was a big fan of the Blind Dead zombies from the classic 70's Spanish horror series that included the films "Tombs of the Blind Dead", "Return of the Evil Dead", "Horror of the Zombies", and "Night of the Seagulls". The rotting, eyeless Templar knights who rode on horses and drank the blood of their victims had a big influence on the music. The name HOODED MENACE was chosen by Billy Nocera of Razorback Records and the band was now officially born!
The band recorded a 2-song promo demo, titled "The Eyeless Horde" and quickly began promoting it in the underground. Pretty soon a Czech label Doomentia Records wanted to put out the demo on 7" EP. The band released their debut album titled "Fulfill The Curse" in 2008 on Razorback Records.
In 2009 the band got signed to Profound Lore Records.
HOODED MENACE are looking to spread their music to fans of totally heavy and ultra-crushing doom and old school early 90's style death metal
Oh well, I'll get it sooner or later hahaha. I'll definitely get the new album once it's released though, I won't miss that one! I appreciate the feedback Lasse!
These are few of my latest work. Click on them for prices and details. There are a lot more, just click these images and you will be directed to my site. Thanx!
No problem, I love discovering amazing METAL. So I see you guys have a double LP of Fulfill the Curse, however I can't seem to find it. Not even Doomentia seems to carry it. I refuse to look on Ebay, so are you aware of any distros carrying this invaluable album? It's a must have.
Thanks for the killer tunes and I can't wait for the next HM release!!!
The Reign Of The Hooded Menace Is Upon Us... Haunting The Sea With Doom,Oceans Of Time Eclipses Our Life Eternal Pulling Us Into The Void Of Darkness And Horror!!!
Out now on Razorback Recordings! FESTERED is pure "blood and guts"
DEATH METAL done the old-school American way! Imagine a mix of Death "Scream
Bloody Gore", Autopsy "Mental Funeral", Master from 1985, Slaughter(Canada)
"Strappado", and the morbid feeling of the original TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and
you get an idea of what this is all about! Nothing modern here...and no triggers
or polished production. This is simply dirty and raw DEATH METAL the way it
should always be! Artwork was drawn by the cult underground artist Drew Elliott,
who drew the classic album art for the very first Necrophagia album cover, along
with cult EP covers for Goreaphobia, Amorphis, and more! Mixing and mastering
once again provided by Patrick Bruss (Impetigo, Cianide, etc). Features the lead
singer of Father Befouled!
