Tim and Sam's Tim & the Sam Band, David Goo & the Variety Band, James and the Jewellery Store, Barney Indiana
Tuesday 14th October @ The Big Chill House
The third night of our FREE entry residency at The Big Chill House. We have some massively rated on the up bands for you, on top of this, we've got some uber cool DJ's to have a little boogie to after... this night is going to be hugely entertaining & lots of fun.
Tim and Sam are a group of best friends who like making music and drinking tea. We are all between 19 and 21 years old, and together we make lovely songs that will make you feel warm and fuzzy. We play a variety of different instruments, including Guitar, Bass, Glockenspiel, Marimba, Banjo, Ukulele, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Harmonium, Bouzouki, Mandolin, Mandola Violin, Cello, Piano and Drums.
Tim and Sam are now one year old. So far we've recorded a single which is now on iTunes, had airplay on Radio1, Radio2 and have done a session for Marc Riley's Brain Surgery on BBC 6Music. We have also been on tour and have performed at Latitude Festival and The Great Escape Festival.
Sam is our imaginary friend. He helps us write songs and get to sleep at night.
David Goo and his Variety Band are the freshest musical virus to infect the collective consciousness.
They are set to release their second EP ‘.’ in October 2008 on Asyet Records and this has already created a mad press buzz, with the London Paper, Subba-Cultcha and OpenMagazine raving about the band’s ‘cult status’. They look set to broaden this appeal with their instantly hummable psychedelic pop classics.
David says ‘We are the self fellating messiahs of musical mayhem. We want to spread lust and spiritual fervor with our music. We have no time to indulge in earnest melancholy. Kick in the jams, man.’
The band have a formidable live reputation, with rocking shows at Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Bobital Festival, Bush Hall, Luminaire, The 100 Club and Stranger Than Paradise et al.
James and the Jewellery Store have fast built themselves a reputation as one of London’s most intense live acts.
Their songs feature a foreboding crew of chaste waifs and fallen strays, high society toffs and card-sharping cads- all set against a backdrop of accordions and Spanish-style guitar.
Twisting together 1950's love ballads, dark folk, and motifs from vaudeville and French and German Cabaret, James and the Jewellery Store reference a myriad of literary classics from the courtly-love of the Romantic poets to the dust bowls of 20th Century American Social Realism.
Live and on record, hearing the songs of James and the Jewellery Store is like stepping into a dimly lit theatre, wanting to look away - but being glued right to your seat.
Barney Indiana
Barney has a truly unique and powerful voice. He's been in various bands over the years, most recently indie pop band Indiana. Barney will be showcasing some of his solo song this evening... should be good.

INFO FOR ARTISTS
We’re starting are new residency at The Big Chill House on September 16th 2008.
These are going to be every other Tuesday night in the 400 capacity main room.
Due to the fact that we need to ensure that all our nights are busy, we have to insist that you bring a good crowd with you to guarantee a re-booking. These nights are going to be free entry and we need to guarantee a busy room, otherwise we can’t carry on.
In return for bringing a good crowd we:
Pay everyone that plays
Give free dinner
Give at least one free drink
We also work hard to build the reputation of the bands that we promote. If you bring a good crowd and we love your music, we will offer you showcases at larger venues/supporting bigger bands. We also send out weekly emails to our hundreds of members/industry contacts, with full myspace links/biogs of artists that we have coming up to get maximum artist exposure.
Please note: Due to the fact that The Big Chill House is quite a busy place, it may not be suitable for quieter acoustic acts. We ask you to bare this in mind before asking to play.
If this sounds good, send us a message or drop an email to tom@hookedonmusic.net. Due to the large amount to requests that we get, please don’t hate us if we haven’t had time to respond.

Glad you like it:) We just found out the other day we got funding from Creative New Zealand to record our second album.
We are excited, cause it means we can do it really well. Shall let you know if we sort out something with the other two New Zealand groups, so maybe we could organise a show.
