Ho'omalie features Kimo Hussey, Lopaka Ho'opi'i, Zanuck Lindsey, and John Enos. They are also the founding members of Pacific Music Foundation, a nonprofit Hawai'i corporation, and often promote the organization at their events.
Ho'omalie plays nahenahe-style music, a style popular during the nostalgic yesteryears of Hawai'i. Nahenahe music has a unique ability to soothe, calm, and relax the listener, bringing back memories of a time when families and friends gathered to enjoy traditional Hawaiian music. In fact, "ho'omalie" means "to soothe" or "to calm" in the Hawaiian language.
Ho'omalie builds upon the nahenahe musical tradition with beautiful four-part harmony singing, inventive arrangements, and a unique sound that is at once comfortingly familiar and refreshingly new.
Ho'omalie is also helping to carry Hawaiian music forward, pioneering the development of the bass 'ukulele in partnership with some of Hawaii's finest luthiers. The band often features the instrument in their live shows.
Ho'omalie's debut CD, "Only You, " is a breath of fresh air in contemporary Hawaiian music that you are sure to enjoy. The album swings and soothes with a beautiful and compelling sound featuring a blend of styles from jazz to hymns to ballads to nahenane and oli, showcasing Ho'omalie's signature four-part harmonies. It's a CD you'll want to listen to again and again, certain to be a new favorite.
The CD was executive produced by Pacific Music Foundation, and the music on the CD certainly exemplifies PMF's mission "to facilitate music that soothes." Sales of the CD will also help PMF continue its goal of bringing soothing musical experiences to everyone.
The CD is now available for purchase online, and at select Oahu music stores.
Containing the complete written music from GRAMMY® nominated He Nani and GRAMMY® winning CD 'ikena.
