Hope Clayburn has been on the music map for more than half her life and she brings her eclectic music and vibe wherever she roams. Her intergalactic soulfunkjazz saxophone/flute/vocal chops has allowed her to share the stage with a wide array of musicians including James Brown, Gov't Mule, Maceo Parker, Galactic, Allman Bros, Karl Denson, George Porter Jr., Bernie Worrell, North Mississippi Allstars and a host of other bands.

Hope gained notoriety as the singer/sax player for funk/jamband greats Deep Banana Blackout and Virginia worldbeat band, Baaba Seth.

Some of the local Memphis bands she has played with include FreeWorld, The Gamble Bros Band, FreeSol, Minivan Blues Band, and the Tunnel Clones.

Hope describes her music as intergalactic soulfunkjazz with a tinge of reggae and rock that is pleasurable to both the ear and the booty. Her latest band,Hope Clayburn's Booty Battalion, has released a CD titled 'Report 4 Booty' which features performances by rising blues legend Corey Harris and influential/radical poet Nikki Giovanni.

Hope is also currently featured on the latest recording by Dutch funk group Octavepussy. She has recorded numerous recordings with acts like the TomTom Club (big hit 'Genius of Love' sampled by Mariah Carey),featuring the drummer and bass player from the Talking Heads. She is currently working with Khari Wynn, guitarist for Public Enemy, and his metal jazz fusion band Solstice.

So, here's your chance to see Hope's creative juices flow live as she leads an innovative project/concept at one of Memphis' finest music venues, the Full Moon Club every Thurs in Feb 2006.Hope's 'Soul Scrimmage' will be a funk faceoff featuring a unique Memphis approach to all things funky. Rob Parker, leader and creator of the Broken String Collective, will be featured on guitar and also lending a hand in gathering the best there is to offer in the scene every week.
