Mixing thrash, hardcore, and death metal; Hopekills brings forth a hybrid metal experience appealing to a diversified aggressive music audience: combining brutality with beauty... spanning the spectrum of human emotion.
HopeKills was spawned in the fall of 2004 when the collaborating of guitarist Tom Murray and drummer Greg Meeks formed a base of song ideas worthy of launching an endeavor to form a full band. An ad was placed in The Scene magazine(a local Cleveland-based zine) for bass players and guitarists that provided numerous responses. After several stale experiences, the ad delivered guitarist Drew Evin(formerly of Retrieve the Glaive(Cleveland, OH)) who brought-in the influences of old-school metal fused with the nuances of the newer, more progressive acts into the fold of Tom and Greg's original numbers. The three continued on, melding Greg's thundering, double-bass driven beats with Tom & Drew's twin guitar riffs. The next addition was bassist Chris Vidler, who comes from a blues/rock background, giving dynamic to the rhythm section. Finally the man known as THE Sean Davis(formerly of Cleanse Through Defilement(Dayton, OH)&Retrieve the Glaive(Cleveland, OH)) was introduced into the yet unnamed HopeKills, bringing unmatched aggression within the frontman role and adding the brutal vocal onslaught the band needed.
