In these times of economic uncertainty, we are all searching for solutions to everyday problems. MUSIC continues to be an inspiring antidote to these kinds of challenges.
At the nexus where rock meets funk, you will find Ki Ki Hawkins, the force behind The Ki Ki Experience. The NYC-based artist is poised for a breakthrough in the evolution of a career that has brought her everywhere from the Kennedy Center stage singing classical to lending her potent set of pipes to artists like Q-Tip and Nona Hendryx. Embodying the spirit of the independent musician, Hawkins recently funded her own live EP, containing her original material and a blistering, funk-infused arrangement of Madonna's "Like a Virgin."
The HopeStock team is thrilled to announce that Ki Ki is now the official Artist Representative of HopeStock: Music to Bailout Your Soul. Watch for her updates on the HopeStock MySpace, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube pages and get an intimate look at the journey of an independent artist. Whether rehearsing in the studio, chatting with another artist or inviting you behind the scenes of a HopeStock event, the experience of Ki Ki Hawkins is one you won't soon forget.
#3 for me and guess what??...It keeps getting better. OMG, the entire evening was a class act. Before and after the show, networking opportunities galore; free beer from Harlem; raffle with actual prizes that you would want and appreciate; beautiful venue; and the show itself...every act was a highlight. Ending the night was Muthawit and when Maya Azucena joined him onstage, it was pure Fiyah. They raised the roof off of Gallapagos. The energy was so powerful, we, the audience could not contain ourselves and just started screaming too...it was awesome :-) I thought I was going to burst a blood vessel...LOL.
Once again Hopestock did it again!! The East Hampton show was awesome. What a beautiful collective of artists and musical genres. You guys keep this up, you might have to have a Hopestock Marathon :)
Nona - Thanks for being on my show and talking about Hopestock
