HOPE, Inc. is a “consumer-run, consumer-driven” agency that provides an array of services to adult members of the Behavioral Health community in southeast Arizona.
We have recently undergone quite a makeover. Armed with a new mission statement, we are poised to “set the bar” when it comes to consumer-run organizations. In keeping current with all the new state and federal requirements, we found a tremendous opportunity to clearly define what it is we do, and why we do it better than anyone. It starts with training, and having a competent, professional staff. At HOPE, we believe that “consumer- run” does not have to mean “non-professional.” As a result, HOPE is able to operate two very successful programs:
- Nueva Luz Center:
Our “Day Center” provides a very necessary psycho-social adjunct to the clinical setting. We have 40-50 members come through our doors each day. They enjoy a wide range of groups and activities that help them attain their individual treatment goals. We are also able to teach valuable “life skills” to folks that are just starting out again on their own. We provide two very nutritious meals every day, as many of our members are on a very “fixed” income.
- Peer Mentor Program – WARM LINE:
We operate a non emergency phone line for folks living with mental illness. Some of these folks are unable or unwilling to leave their homes. We provide a friendly voice to talk to and help alleviate their loneliness. Who better to talk to than a fellow consumer? Someone who understands, who has been there/ done that. Our training program for Peer Mentors is well known and respected nationally. We look forward to expanding our hours and coverage area to include ALL rural parts of southeastern Arizona.
