hungry children, a warm sun with a cool breeze, uncertainty, staying up late, sanity, lucid dreams, jambalaya, vulnerability, yoga, irrational fear, rain on a tin roof, snow, what makes a human being strong, driving through the desert, my o.a.o., to kill a mockingbird, margaritas that don't give me headaches, somewhere over the rainbow, serendipity.
the following places, people, things: london, paris, the french riviera, vencencia, roma, tibet, ireland, belarus & russia, the st. john farm, southern gospel, old blues, old jazz, old country, catholic guilt, my mother and father, my 17 siblings, jolene, my insanely brilliant bambino, the old magnolia tree with that long branch I used to sleep in as a child that caused me to dream for days on end . . . and the names of the musicians below . . . have all put a big fat voodoo curse on me:
billie holiday, chet baker, ray charles, bob dylan, johnny cash, lucinda williams, hank williams sr., the beatles, t.j.d., aretha franklin, nina simone, joni mitchell, tom waits, etta james, bonnie raitt, darrell scott, shawn colvin, fiona apple, shelby lynn, dayna kurtz, ani difranco, ryan adams, rufus wainwright, patty griffin, elliot smith, ray lamontagne, damien rice, ludwig von f-ing beethoven, and on, and on, and on ... oh, and this guy....
"I prefer to learn everything through music. If you want divinity, the music in every human being and their love for music is pretty much it. It's the big indication of their spirituality and their ability to
love and make love, or feel pain or joy, and really manifest it, really be real...you have an Eden immediately from the time you are born, but as you are conditioned by your caretakers and your surroundings, you may lose that original thing. Your task is to get back to it, to claim responsibility for your own perfection."
-Jeff Buckley

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
Hope- Love your music! Love your Voice! Hope you like our new tunes! The final mixes are posted until we get the CDs back from the pressing plant in a few weeks... Love & Dag, Mark from The Wellhouse (formerly Locomotive Pie) Asheville, N.C.

"I would teach the children music, physics and philosophy, but the most important is music, for in the patterns of the arts are the keys to all learning."
