Music
Anything that doesnt suck. Im not into country music. I like RUSH, Iron Maiden, Dr. Dre, Beastie Boys, Prodigy, Run-DMC. Lots o' stuff. Motorhead. Local music, 80's Metal, Queensryche, Judas Priest, Metallica, Old School Rap, stuff with energy to keep me going like Techno and some Trance in the background while working.
The ever changing top 5 (or so):
Star Wars, Children of the Corn, Blues Brothers, X-Files, Its a Mad mad mad mad world (The Original), Top Gun, and Blade (1 and 3, 2 was just OK) Best Jedi scene below. Its about 5 minutes long.
Television
Sports Center on ESPN and NFL Network. As for shows, here is a sample-clip list. For whatever reason though, no matter how many times I find and re-post it, the Simpsons stuff and Family Guy Puke clips disappear. Hopefully youve seen them and support the shows. Theyre great. So I will continue to find others.
24, Simpsons, Family Guy, Wrestling, and the occasional Internet comedies.
OTHERS:
Lord of the Flies (classic),
Success is a Choice (Rick Pitino),
Designing Great Beers (Ray Daniels)
Heroes
Hmm. Thats tough. My Parents. Magic Johnson. The small independant breweries around the country.
I can name some names here but it wouldnt be all of them.
Anyone who works thier ass off to make a dream come true.
People say Jordan is thier hero. I say bull$*!%. He had the talent. A hero is the undrafted free agaent who struggled to make the team and when he gets his chance dares to take on the "Jordans" and slam it in their face. John Starks isnt a hero persay, but he represents the little guy taking it to hole and gettin' it done against the big guys. Check the dunk video.
Also the people who put their bodies on the line for our protection and freedom. Semper Fi!
People who influence us without even trying and deal with adversity with grace and honor.
About me: Some people have thier own spaces. Some people are actually bars or bands and promote themselves here. Me, Im both (and very confused!)
BUSINESS: WWW.HOPPYBREWER.COM
PERSONAL: READ ON...
Im a regular guy who finally decided to get a page since I wanted to start my own blog but havent created my own personal web site yet. Im also realizing I have a lot more friends that I thought and they are all over the place. One page, many friends, stay in touch. I like the easy way to do things.
I would tell you about me, but thats the point of the page, isnt it? Read it, use it, look at it, then you have an idea of what Im about. However I will proudly say that I consider myself the New England Sports Anti-Christ!
I guess the important stuff is that I live here in Rhode Island and own a small business for those that make their own beer and wine. Its called the Hoppy Brewer. The official site for that can be found at Hoppy Brewer dot Com. I am also a brewer by trade, working as the head brewer for a brew pub in Manchester, Ct called John Harvard's Brew House. We make all our own beer and have great food too. Stop in sometime for a pint. You can tell by my pictures I know and have met alot of important Beer people like Derek Luke (Newport Storm), Sam Calagione (Dogfish Head), and Jim Koch (Sam Adams), and do lots of BMX.
I am definatley a beer guy. Good beer. Craft beer. If it says the word "light" at the end then I dont call it beer unless I made it myself. Then its light but with more flavor. YFB is not for me! Thats Yellow Fizzy Beer. Some styles will pass, but only classic versions like Warsteiner or Bitburger. Otherwise make it craft. Make it local. I am brewing again professionally and am forever thankfull to my friends at Newport Storm. From beer and brewing and home brew I have met heads of breweries, brewers, and tons of cool people. BFL=Beer 4 Life. I am winner number 1 and even have it on tap in my house. Hence why I need to ride bikes!
Ive raced BMX for over 20 years. I love to ride even though Im not the best or the fastest. Its the love of the sport and I eat track cheeseburgers. Im a guy, whadaya expect?! To get a really good idea about how I feel for BMX, check in my video section for one called "Perspective." Its about street, but the message is the same.
When I am not racing I can be found in the announcers tower. I love calling the races and giving the kids nicknames. EVEN THE 44 YEAR OLD "KIDS"! HAHA!!!
I am "Down for the Cause" with Stile Industries. They take care of me, I take care of them. Bizzarro BMX rocks it as well at every national. I can be found there driving L-Train crazy, but its the only way. BMX is my family away from home. I dont know what I would do without the people Ive met from racing and riding BMX. This is where my worlds collide!
Oh yeah, if I didnt mention it, part of BMX racing is announcing and I LOVE to do that as well. My mentor and friend is Linda Dorsey. RIP Linda, I love you and miss you.
Below are a couple of clips of races Ive announced. There is also one of me racing, but I didnt do too well. Late snap and an OK first straight but not nearly aggressive enough in the turn put me from contender to 4th place. Oh well, it was still fun! I was pretty involved with RT 44 BMX when it was here. Short but sweet. My God I miss it so much!! There is a tribute video below and some others in my video section. Thanks to whomever put these together.
For more about me, check out my blogs (please feel free to subscribe!) and come back every so often to see my changes to the site, check my pictures, and maybe my music choices. Cheers!
ANNOUNCING
4TH PLACE RACE
RT 44 BMX TRIBUTE
Who I'd like to meet: This is way to phylosophical a question. As my Sister says, "I have to meet people? Dont I have enough to do?" Show me a woman who truely loves beer, and I shall conquer the world! Geez, just meet me and you'll figure me out. I guess if you watch my videos and think they are funny and/or entertaining then we should meet! But if you know Mickey James or Jessica Alba, PLEASE introduce us!
So, did you venture back to EP for Easter?? I was looking forward to some pictures of the classy ladies you usually have Easter dinner with. What info can you give about taking a spin class (you used to teach, right??)
Ok, I need some non-beer expert advice. My hubby likes to race cars and we need to get him a new helmet and support (neck support). Can you possibly lead me in that direction?? Hit me up about the MS team- I am in no condition to ride but will donate. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Right Back. A friend was teling me about an old bar I used to go to is now the Eastside Cafe and how i need to check it out and, boom, there you are on the firend list. Looks like it's not a Bud/Miller joint anymore!
Was rootin for the Jets for a day and had to laugh (before I cried) at the Three Stooges play the Jet's pulled out on the last play. OMG I was pissin my pants at that play. TFF. Then I did Sue's Families Yankee Swap and ended up with Old Leghumper Ale which is realy a porter. I gave up 2 cans of Spotted Dick (Pudding) and a bag of Pistachios.
No. Last I saw her was at the bus stop with her son. I think she was still having some issues- like couldn't stay off the pain meds. What's it like being 40??? :)
not going to christmas this year, 1st time in 15 years, I just can't get excited about that race knowing it's going to be small cramped and in the middle of no where. If i'm going to give up holiday's with my family it better be for a bad ass race and not just another "rodeo"
Soooo, URI gave your Duke Blue Devils a run for their money!! I still call them Dookee. You moved? Where to now? Sounds like the fest ruffled a few feathers!
I just read your bulletin.... sorry for your loss. I know you get very dedicated to those you look up to (Coach Lynch, the Rocky Hill announcer.."I hate Kids".., try and think of how lucky you were to have been a good friend to her and to have been taught and inspired by her. And EEWWWW is right! Hey, tried out Facebook yet? Where is your shop now? Went by where I used to see the sign for it and didn't see a sign
