Hey, guys. I am writing to my three favorite horror magazines - you guys, FANGORIA and RUE MORGUE, to try to get the word out about a project that I saw here locally - a live opera that was about ... zombies. Called MAELSTROM: A ZOMBIE OPERA, it's really an awesome live experience filled with an intense score, classical singing and plenty of zombie viscera spraying around on-stage. It's really unforgettable and I became an instant fan after just one viewing and I'm going to go again this coming weekend. I thought it might be a good idea to get the word out to others in Oregon (and elsewhere) about this show and get people to go see it. So far, the shows have all sold out, but I think this show is good enough to warrnt the attention. The singers are all really good and the story is pure zombie mayhem - you won't be disappointed! Check out www.zombieopera.net if you want to see some stuff to indicate what it's like, but mainly I thought it was a good idea to tell HORRORHOUND about it because it also seemed like the kind of local work that you guys have covered in the past, the grassroots horror that is the bread-and-butter stuff we all need to keep flourishing in the horror world. Maybe HORRORHOUND might interview these guys? I think they're clearly worthy of that kind of attention. Maybe HORRORHOUND could send somebody out to the shows this weekend? Seriously, this isn't just some fan-made thing being done locally - it's a full-on opera, with an admitted low budget but the creators' vision is obviously on-han ... and foot ... and intenstine. Check it out if you're local to Oregon!
