Horse Opera is a honky tonk country music group, centered around the songwriting of frontman Jimmy Deveney.
The band started as a quartet, playing private parties and club dates in March of 2007. Horse Opera quickly developed a reputation for high energy, rowdy
shows, and began a 2 year sunday night South Austin residency called "Atomic Honky Tonk" in may of 2007.
'Atomic Honky Tonk' featured Horse Opera, as well as other great talent from the rich Austin country music scene, and quickly became the sunday night hang
for many young musicians, dancers, and music fans.
Jimmy is fortunate to play with a revolving stable of the very best players Austin has to offer, and every show is exciting.
This is why Horse Opera decided to release a live album, 'Horse shoes and hand grenades" in december 2008, available on I tunes, amazon, rhapsody, through the myspace and at shows. The band has begun booking and touring in ever expanding circles around Texas and the US, spreading the good word that real country music is alive and well. It's underground like punk rock used to be, remember that? Real country is the alternative to alternative now, interesting. It's a subculture. Find it where you can, and you can find it at a Horse Opera show. In conclusion, these guys are great, and you should book 'em, feed 'em, let 'em sleep on your floor, tell 5 people about 'em, buy their merchandise, go see them perform, whatever your capacity to further the revolution is, do it. ‘Nuff said.
