| General | Our interests are in promoting public awareness and education for horse owners, handlers, trainers and stable managers. We promote "natural horsemanship" - using many of the methods/techniques of John Lyons, Frank Bell,Monty Roberts, GaWaNi PonyBoy. Horse Play is a 501(c)3 non-profit - we are staffed entirely by volunteers - we are always looking for support - donations, either monetary or in-kind are always needed and most welcome - it cost approximately $100.00 per month for one horse - visit our website - www.hptrc.org - for info on sponsoring, donating and also upcoming fundraising events - Please help us help horses! | | Music | Varied!!

About me:
It's not really about me - although I am the main human in this - it's really about the horses, healing and helping others. I am a former ballet dancer, 3-day event rider, and yacht captain (200tons)who has sailed all over the world, finally making Rhode Island my homeport. I am mixed Native American heritage with a truly profound love for all animals and Mother Earth - I also really love music - all kinds - from Classical to Aerosmith to Jimmy Buffett to Carlos Nakai - music - the hearbeat. The horses like music too! So I will write about it!
Started in 1999 - Horse Play is a Rhode Island based horse rescue/sanctuary and therapeutic riding program. All abused, neglected, and unwanted equines are welcome here. They are rehabilitated and if possible, we find them adoptive homes. Those not adoptable spend the remainder of their lives here. Most horses also participate in our therapeutic program. The therapeutic riding program focuses on individuals - children and adults - with mental, emotional and/or social challenges. The program provides the individual with opportunities and interactive experiences which promote healing and growth. The benefits for the horses involved are also numerous and nothing short of miraculous! Trust develops and animals deemed "useless" become willing partners, teachers, and friends! All life is sacred here!
