ABOUT HOSAYWOOD:
Jacen Tan got lucky when his first short film, Tak Giu (Kick Ball), gained a cult-following and gathered 100,000 viewers in 6 months after it was hosted on the internet. Shot with just a camcorder, Tak Giu spread like wild-fire and made waves in the Singaporean football and online community.
In November 2005, Jacen Tan’s 2nd film, Zo Peng (Go Army), by-luck by-luck won 2nd place at the Panasonic/MDA Digital Film Fiesta, Short Film Open Category.
Jacen also directed a music video for popular Singaporean alternative-rock band, Lunarin. ‘Silverpiece‘ was shot in his living room and travelled to Cannes! (Chey, not for the film festival but the MIDEM media market)
Zo Gang (Go Work), his third short film about a struggling filmmaker wannabe, has received rave applause from Hougang to Germany. You wouldn’t think the Europeans would get it, but they understood every joke!
Kwa Giu (See Ball), a documentary about the Kallang Roar, has been put on hold until the National Stadium really decides to close and turn into dust. It was filmed during the last football cup final played at the National Stadium in Jan 2007.
Jacen’s latest film Zo Hee (Make Movie), the sequel to Zo Gang, premiered at The Substation Theatre on 7 Dec. This film was specially commissioned by The Substation to celebrate 10 years of Moving Images!
