Influences
As what all bands will tell ya, we all listen to different things and have different styles but if you really wanna know- Reel Big Fish, Deftones, Sublime, Beastie Boys, Big D and the Kids Table, Snoop Dogg, Kiss, Van Halen, Less Than Jake, Guttermouth, Bouncing Souls, Catch 22, Weezer, Death by Stereo, Skindred, Slipknot, Mxpx, Rancid, NOFX, Bob Marely, Eric Clapton, the Aquabats, Run DMC, Ice Cube, Voodoo Glow Skulls, the Vandals, Pennywise, the Descendents, ALL, AFI, the Misfits, Goldfinger, Operation Ivy, Hi-Standard, NWA, Mad Caddies, the Specials, Streetlight Manifesto, Sonic Boom Six, Madness, the Ordinary Boys and we've even been known to dab in a little Garth Brooks. We appreciate all forms and styles (some more than others). Whats the point in bounding yourself within restrictions such as style of music? Music is about being creative so influences should be taken from everywhere.
About The Hostiles - Bar Bloc Glasgow 16/07 FREE ENTRY!
The Hostiles are an american fronted ska-punk band from Ayr/Glasgow who formed in 2001. After going through almost their entire school brass band in a bid to find passionate members with whom to make music with, they now find themselves as a settled six piece.
The Hostiles’ first love is performing live. Over the last few years they've had the pleasure of sharing stages with great acts like Neville Staple, Zox, Beat Union, The King Blues, Random Hand, The JB Conspiracy, Leftover Crack, Catch 22, The Toasters, Sonic Boom Six, Zebrahead, Fandangle, Jaya the Cat, Failsafe, Strike Anywhere, The Beat, Mouthwash, 3 Minute Warning, Catch it Kebabs, Zen Baseball Bat, The Amphetameanies and Chase Long Beach. “You guys are exactly what most ska bands need to be.... good, creative, and catchy.”- garageband.com
Their debut album, Always Looking Forward, was released in April 2009, and their plan for the rest of 2009 is to expand their fanbase by playing as many gigs as possible all over the UK.
“These boys kick the ass out of the Blink 182 brigade. If you get a chance go and see them, a definite recommendation”- livemusic.direct.co.uk
