Host are an exciting and original four piece band from Worcestershire, England.
The band formed in summer 2006 after Mash Harrison (Singer and Guitarist) and Phil Lewis (Lead Guitar) decided they wanted a bigger sound after five years of playing acoustically together.
Phil met Dan Lennard (Bass) in a club a couple of weeks later and Nick Ward (Drums) joined the band in December 2007. Nick and Dan had also played together over the years in various other bands.
Since then they have tirelessly ridden the tidal wave of unsigned band cliches with international showcases, mini tours, european dates, live recordings, internet reviews, general drunkenness, photoshoots, acoustic gigs, video shoots, battle of the bands competitions, friends weddings, the floors of friends houses, juggling day jobs, random festivals, soundtracks to short films, dodgy promoters and local media coverage, and a damn fine time of it they’re having too!
Host play live wherever and whenever they can, and are always on the lookout for more gigs. They play original songs crossing rock, indie, funk, folk, metal, dance and jazz genres. They also do a mean Wicked Game by Chris Isaak, and have been known to do a Daft Punk track or two.
The band is named after Dan who had a tapeworm in the summer of 2006, effectively becoming the ‘host’ for said tapeworm. This is admittedly a bit weird. Still, at least something positive grew from Dans horrible ordeal.
They are currently working on a second EP and album, following their eponymous debut EP in May 2007.
Some of the songs from the first EP are available as free downloads on this, their myspace page, with the CD format available to buy at every Host gig and via their website - www. hostlounge. co. uk - which you can visit by clicking our banner at the top of this page!
