About me:
Hi! My name is Fran and as a kid I used to get picked on by my family and friends because I was really overweight and a real klutz. My mom would pick out my clothes and I would never look cool like the rest of the kids. I was always perfect and did whatever I was told to do. Then, one day I decided I was not going to take it any more. Imagine going bowling with your family and bending over and ripping your pants right down the middle in front of everyone in the bowling alley. Now, imagine your parents telling you that you had to finish the game wearing a sweater across your bottom. How embarrassing is that? Then imagine trying again and swinging the ball across your waist and getting a strike for someone three lanes down bowling in a league. Well, not so funny and at that point I was fuming. I stormed out of the bowling ally and never to look back again. But, if you want to know what happened next and more situations that I faced growing up, you have to buy my book My Name is Bertha and read these hysterical stories that only I could write about myself. Just think, how you would feel taking ice skating lessons in Rockefeller Center, weighing 160 pounds and falling on your instructor. I wrote this book for anyone that ever had trouble losing weight and who grew up with a sister who was prettier than she was and able to dance, sing and do anything without having trouble. However, I was smart and sassy and had a great sense of humor to get over these and many other things.But, now I not only weigh less than my sister, but I look pretty hot too. Booksigning on August 9 at 2P.M. at the Barnes and Noble in Mohegan Lakes. I hope that everyone will come and buy my first book My Name is Bertha. It is great for kids of all ages. I am going to read one of the stories from my second book Bertha Speaks Out at the booksigning.
I am currently writing my third book called Bertha Fights Back which will deal with real life issues faced by students in Middle School and High School. I would love some help to get my first two books out there and have more people buy them for their children and their schools.Bertha Speaks Out

Who I'd like to meet:
I would like to meet anyone in the publishing field that can help me get this book out there to more people and hopefully republished by a traditional publishing company. I would love to meet people that like to read mysteries, listen to different kinds of music and read Grisham, J.D. Robb and Rosenberg. I love watching British comedies and enjoy American Idol and Dancing with the Stars. I love going shopping and enjoy trying out new stores to see what's new and different. I hope that a traditional publisher will pick up both of my books and republish them. I am writing a third book and I hope that some of the teenagers out there and kids in middle school will send me some ideas of what is happening in their schools today.
