hotels and highways
Driving back to hotel in Ames, Iowa, we were drunk on inspiration from seeing Walk the Line. Once in our hotel room, Syd suggested writing a song. Within an hour, Live Now was written and recorded as you can here it here on myspace. Each writer left the room for 10 minutes while the other wrote a verse. Three rehearsals and an ibook microphone later we have created our first side project currently titled Hotels and Highways.
We both are actually pretty proud of this accomplishment and are amazed that in today’s world, one hour can see the first song either of us has ever truly co-written from beginning to end find its way on from the back of our collective brains to a place on the internet where our friends and fans can listen to it.
We hope you enjoy our love-child!

live now
Miles roll out
in the shadow of a mountain
there's a pen in my fountain
Tell me I'm saved
Feelin older now
but like a tear in an ocean
nobody knows when
we're out of days
Better live now
clock comes down
like a hammer on a gavel
I got a fist full of regrets
need to ease my pain
Soon enough I'll check out
like a highway motel
wheels humming like the static
on my radio dial
better live now
Winter creepin in
I can feel it sinkin in my soul again
I hope I make the bloom
trees tapping on the eaves
something bitter in the breeze
cold snap reminds me
spring will find me
