Bio
Hot Fur is one of the leading Avant-Rock ensembles from Israel. It was formed by the guitar player and composer Lior Frenkel in 1997. The ensemble originally started as a theatrical progressive rock band, combining music, theater, dance and art, and performed all over Israel. Between 1997 and 2006 the band performed all over Israel, constantly transforming itself, managing always to surprise Hot Fur's die-hard audience. During that period, Hot Fur appeared on television, radio and won critical acclaim in Israeli media. The band recorded its debut album 'Hot Fur!', released by the French label 'Musea', the album 'Street Music' which was freely available on the net, 'Hot Fur Live In Tel Aviv', and 'Hot Fur Precise & Realistic DVD'. In late 2007 Frenkel moved to Berlin and formed his new vision 'The Frenkel Band', combining a live ensemble with a unique drum-triggered computer. The Frenkel Band performed successfully all over Berlin, and in 2011 Frenkel broke up The Frenkel Band to form the new Hot Fur Group, with six new band members from all over the world. Upon its formation, the Hot Fur Group was immediately booked to perform as headliner at the biggest Frank Zappa tribute festival in the world – The Zappanale Festival in Germany, where it received great acclaim from the media and audience. -
