The dictionary defines fire as the process of combustion of inflammable materials producing heat and light and (often) smokes; which happens to be fitting for the poet/vocalist/lyricist/visual artist/activist Sharae Walton aka Fire. So, it is surely prevalent when one hears Fire flow, it is absolutely some lyrical heat and a great deal of enlightenment. Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio: Fire has been writing since the age of seven and has been seriously pursuing her artistic goals for the past nine years. Fire’s Influences consists of Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, De La Soul, Sade,Billy Holiday, KRS –One, Tribe Called Quest, Ancestors etc.. However, her sound can be described as a unique blend of Jazz and Hip-Hop. Fire’s voice has been compared to having a blend of M.C. Lyte and Lauryn Hill, but this artist insist on having a voice of her own. Fire fuses a blend of Hip-Hop, Soul, and Poetry; this talented one-woman act delivers a unique rhythmic message in which each new listener finds something in which they can relate. Fire was the 2008 host for Diamond Minds open mic at In The Living Room Café in Cleveland, Ohio and has performed at Galleria Sidewalk Art Exhibit, Campus Martious poetry Slam in Detroit, Michigan, The B-Side Café/ Club in Cleveland, Ohio, The T.K. Gregg Recreation Center Poetry Night in Spartanburg, S.C., and various open mics and slams.
