Bio
Lemonrock MP3 of the week Hot lips & chilli fingers [Americana] Track: Fish Supper Lemonrock review: "And you thought you knew what a harmonica sounded like?! A professional sounding, fun, uplifting, interesting and blindingly different track stands out brightly amongst a staple backdrop of rock, blues and pop on the live music scene. Next time you go to the chippy, just see if your hot parcel of nosh invokes anything like these feelings..." Steve met Chris about ten years ago when he turned up for a studio session for an album Chris was putting together. They found much in common and the blues magic was there. Their music is an eclectic mix of both original and cover songs (Blues, roots and Jazz) from the last 80 years, although you may not remember the first time they were released they have timeless appeal. The range of styles are beautifully packaged in a seamless roller coaster ride through traditional music. These international musicians have recorded and toured extensively over the last 20 years. Chris Newman is an outstanding guitarist who started performing in the mid-70's. Chris has an impressive musical CV. He has been a member of the John Slaughter Blues Band and toured as support for the Climax Blues Band. Chris joined the 'Gravy Train' a band formed by Colin Cooper, front man for the Climax, which featured Pick Withers on drums (Dire Straits). As a member of the 'Soul Survivors' Chris recorded the song "Wooly Bully" with the infamous Vinnie Jones. This entered the lower reaches of the national chart in 1993. Chris has composed music for TV adverts and has been featured on Radio 4. He has worked with respected jazz/rock drummer Russell Gillbrook on a national Mapex drum tour. In 2003 he played at the Cambridge Folk Festival with guitarist Eric Roche and harmonica player Steve Lockwood. Chris played at the ninth annual British Rory Gallagher tribute concert in Sheffield 2004 and headlined at a tribute to the late great Rory in Philadelphia 2005. Steve's achievements over the last 20 years include over 50 albums as a performer and session musician. He has played with acts from Larry Adler to Screaming Lord Sutch and has recorded with both the Royal Philharmonic and the City of Prague Orchestras. Steve Lockwood achieved a music degree from APU, Cambridge, specialising in harmonica and has gone on to compose and play music for film, television and radio. His dynamic and versatile playing incorporates both traditional and avant-Garde techniques to an amazing level. You really have to see his playing to believe it. Steve is currently working on production for a new album, playing concerts and lecturing in music. He has learned tips from the best harmonica players around including famous classical virtuoso Larry Adler, funk maestro Lee Oskar and Irish specialist Brendan Power. They have either appeared on or provided music for the UK's BBC1, BBC2, ITV, and Channel 4 TV channels and have appeared on countless international stations as part of their tours. Radio appearances include BBC R1, BBC R2, BBC R4 and Radio 5 Live. UK Printed articles include: The Times, The Express, Blues Matters The Sun, Time Out, The Mix Magazine and others. ............ ....Myspace Layouts.. at Pimp-My-Profile.com / ..Black and blue.. .. -

HOT LIPS & CHILLI FINGERS
Come and see HOT LIPS & CHILLI FINGERS at The Samual Pepys Huntingdon on the first Sunday of every month. Samuel Pepys (lunchtime concert 13:00 - 15:30) 146 High Street, Huntingdon, PE29 3TF (01480) 437877 When internationally renowned musicians Steve Lockwood and Chris Newman met during a recording session six years ago it was obvious there was a real musical chemistry between them. The rare combination of true virtuoso harmonica playing and world class roots and blues guitar eventually led to them forming HOT LIPS & CHILLI FINGERS so they could explore their passion for traditional American music styles further.
