About me:
i know you'd love to help me raise $1000 for the obama campaign:
born in va, raised in nc, i was a sensitive, creative, dorky kid with a alarmingly normal upbringing.
i played in the band geezer lake from 1990-1997. that was awesome.
lived in boston 1997-2005. played in the band gladiola for a year or so. good times. then dover, new hampshire for two years. awesome. and now i find myself back in north carolina, in a beautiful house, with three beautiful kids, and a beautiful
wife and i ask myself, 'how did i get here?'
i always have lip balm in my pocket. i usually am in the process of reading 2 or 3 books. i can muti-task like a motherfucker. when flying i prefer to sit in an aisle seat close to the front. i read the newspaper every day and two on sunday. i can keep a secret. i write. i am fascinated by human behavior, religion, and science. i think we could all use a good dose of shame. i have one scar and no tattoos. i am not fond of public displays of religion or affection. i like to listen to non-fiction audiobooks while i drive. i like to listen to people's conversations in public. i only tuck in my shirt or wear a tie at weddings or funerals. i buy books faster than i can read them. i have no problem going to the movies alone. i always prefer low lighting. i think many problems could be solved if people could simply embrace moderation. when i find a note on the ground i have to pick it up and read it and sometimes i will save it. in a world without consequences i would sit down and eat a cinnabon like it were a filet mignon. i like old logos, designs, ads, music, and architecture. sometimes i think about how i will never get to read all the books and see all the movies and listen to all the music and see all the places that i want to before i die and that makes me anxious.
Things That Bother Me:
the bush administration, nearly every newspaper comic strip currently in syndication, stickers on books that do not peel off with ease, people with no cell phone etiquette, jingoism, solipsism, name-dropping, people who fish for attention, people that get way too into holidays, people who think that their religion is the only one that is valid because they were the ones born into it, people who think it's cool to light up at 4:20, closed-mindedness, intolerance, self-righteousness, pleated pants, cancer, geographical superiority, angry drivers, those ribbon magnets on everybody's cars, hotel rooms with poor air circulation, vomit, ignorant generalizations like 'southerners are stupid' or 'country music sucks', people who don't understand that the bible was written by dozens of people employing countless literary devices over the course of 1500 years in order to address different audiences to achieve a variety of goals and should be read and understood as such, people who yell at others who are in no way responsible for whatever they are mad about, hypocrites like myself.

Who I'd like to meet:
people who want to make the rock music and/or people who just really like the rock music. people who like to drink and talk about movies and books and ideas. people who don't think in black & white. people who do not wear christmas sweaters or shoes with tassels on them. anybody in the red sox front office that would give me a job based solely on my enthusiasm. people who are down with obp. people who make things, read things, think up things, and who are inquisitive, misunderstood, original, dorky, funny and kind.
Who I Don't Want to Meet:
young-earth creationists, people who voted for bush and don't think it was a mistake, people who assume that everyone is christian, people whose profile pics feature: blood, guns, abs, lingerie, cars. people who can't spell or punctuate above a third grade level. people whose photos resemble a beaver hunt spread, people who pimp out their page with a 24 pt. comic sans font. and no, i really don't care to watch your sevendust video. people who write 'i busted your comments cherry!' as a first comment post. i mean, jesus. i am constantly blown away by how ridiculously vain, inconsiderate, illiterate, and presumptuous people can be -- i hope this site is a skewed sampling of society, or we're completely fucked. no wonder the terrorists hate us.
