About me: Hot Roxx at the Hex made its humble debut in October of 2006 as part of a Monday-night DJ series created by the Hex's then-booker, Chris Dorn. Its roots, however, had been firmly planted for over a year at Radio K, where DJ MacKu$ had hosted a specialty show titled somewhat provocatively, Hot Roxx. In the fall of 2006, Jen approached Marcus with a bold plan to revolutionize the third Monday of every month in Minneapolis, a plan Marcus quickly gobbled up, having wanted to revolutionize the city for months prior. Together, they created HR@TH, which features drink specials, Gaylord (the best bartender in Minneapolis), and a mix of the best and worst of the 1970s and beyond, featuring prominently such genres as power pop, punk, country, and psych rock.
Over the past three years, HR@TH has expanded to include guest DJs, live music showcases featuring some of the Twin Cities' greatest bands, and a second DJ night, known as Hot Roxx at Club Jager on the first Thursday of every month. Marcus has since moved on (as in, physically moved, not dead) and been replaced by Nick, but the good times continue for all, though Nick does not indulge Jen on her wardrobe requests as much as Marcus did, both having an affinity for vintage Western clothing.
