The Strokes’ ear and eye for music (fingers too), Regina Spektor’s individuality and mind for songs, Arctic Monkeys’ cool nonchalance and gnarly vibes, Albert Hammond Jr’s happiness and feeling, Franz Ferdinand’s sexiness, the Velvet Underground’s experimentalism and love for pure music, the White Stripes’ use of the slide, Johnny Cash’s style and story-telling honesty, Muse’s everything, Buddy Holly & The Crickets’ rock ’n roll style, of Montreal’s craziness and fearlessness, the Talking Head’s stage presence and theatrics, the Rakes’ danceability, Spoon’s weirdness, DeVotchKa’s ingenious songwriting, Vampire Weekend’s funky catchiness.
Sounds Like
If the Velvet Underground, The Strokes, and Franz Ferdinand all met for tea in Russia somewhere and created some tunes together featuring all kinds of strange stories and many instruments.
The Hot Tickets are five friends who were pretty sick and tired of the typical high school music scene. When they formed the band, they decided to dig deeper into rock n' roll history, drawing from influences such as Patti Smith, the Velvet Underground, the Clash, Bob Dylan, etc. as well as the modern garage-rock sound of the Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Spoon, and Franz Ferdinand. The Hot Tickets are quite literally a garage band, as they practice and write all their songs in a garage. They play shows in Dallas, but are currently on hiatus while Julia (lead guitar, vocals) is off at Rice University in Houston.
The 6 songs on here now were recorded at Pleasantry Lane Studios by Salim Nourallah in August 2009, and will be released, along with 7 other songs, as an album sometime soon.

The old band was a collaborative thing, and it got to the point where nobody wanted to do it anymore. I felt bad using the name and anything related to that band for myself, so I just decided to start from scratch and make a new project altogether. It's kind of empowering, to be honest.
I will miss the old band though, it'll be near and dear.
& I don't think I could ever stop doing music, ever, it's too natural of a thing.
i'm playin with you guys at the prophet bar. I don't know if you remember us talking a while back but I just checked the calender and saw you guys on there. Kinda crazy huh? my music page is myspace.com/skinnycheeks

He suggested that i remix the song Sunshine Soldier, so on Saturday I sat down with yalls song and busted out a remix.

Dear The Hot Tickets, Your new songs are sounding pretty fly. If they were a type of food I am certain they would be delicious. And probably a tad spicy as your name suggests. Keep up the good work. Sincerely, Sidecar Inferno
Haha, it's about summer time, eh? And we're getting back together, FYI. Are you guys still jamming? We'd love to play with you guys again, for sure. Just let me know. :)
