Sounds Like
Metal-inspired rock. Listen and judge for yourself.
Unlike many of their contemporaries, House 10 is very controlled even in the midst of chaos and always seem more curious and more willing to incorporate traditional elements of classic and alternative into their brand of hard rock/heavy metal and this quintet of musicians sweeping sense of drama and passion is evident in their songs.
The band was officially formed by Jason Jobes and Jeff James in 2005 and went through numerous lineup changes before finally solidifying the unit with Justin Mitchell and Jason Kennick in August 2006. The band kept playing local clubs throughout the Southwestern Pennsylvania and Fayette County area, sometimes opening for other acts, as well as doing their own sets, playing numerous sets and covers. At times, House 10's brand of hard rock wasn't always welcome with the metalheads in attendance, who often had a preference for modern metalcore sounds, but undeterred, the band was more open to experimentation and never altered their original sound and garnered the respect and friendship of many other local acts.
With a workhorse attitude and a goal to play as often as possible (no matter where or what the venue), the band has yielded two early demos (jokingly titled "Black" and "White") and have recently completed a three-song original demo, recorded at Treelady Studios in Turtle Creek, PA, right outside of Pittsburgh.
"The BLACK Demo"
Recorded at Hawkins House of Sound in Carmichaels, PA with founding bassist Jason Hazuda in July 2006 (who left the band immediately after recording), this demo includes covers such as Danzig's "Mother" and "Be Yourself" by Audioslave. The originals are "Living To Die," "Killing Jar," "Pretty Lies," and "Different Kind Of Evil." The band openly states that the atmosphere going into recording was harsh and the group wasn't fully satisified with the quality of the result.
"The WHITE Demo"
After replacing Hazuda with Jason Kennick on bass, the band returned to Hawkins House of Sound in January 2007 and recorded the "White" demo. This time around, the environment was described as "easy going and fun," but also somewhat "nerve-wracking," as described by Mitchell. The demo contains covers such as Black Label Society's "Suicide Messiah" and "Wishbone" by Dropbox. The originals include "Deathgrip," "God Of Whores," "Grey Area," and the group's most revered song, "Duality Of Man," which would also be included on a compilation album, Pittsburgh Rockers For Life on Illumina Records.
House 10 took part in a special battle of the bands festival at the Geyer Performing Arts Center in Scottdale, PA on April 28, 2007, and won. They performed "Deathgrip," "God Of Whores," Duality Of Man," "Different Kind Of Evil," and a cover of "Bulls On Parade" by Rage Against The Machine. As part of their first place prize, the band won studio time at Treelady Studios, where they recorded their third demo. Instead of mixing covers and originals, the four just recorded three original compositions - "Method Act," "Jason's Song," and "Not My Own." The band was adamant in saying that this recording session was the funnest, most productive, and their favorite.
House 10 isn't just a band you hear, it's something you feel deep down. Its pulse affects you.

Come on, now--don't make me choose! Any true Pittsburgh fan will, of course, root for both teams. I'm a HUGE Pens fan AND a Steelers fan!!! I also support the Pirates (I'd just like to see them have a winning season soon). In my mind, a true Pittsburgh fan cheers on all 3 of their home teams--win or lose. LET'S GO PENS!! Go STEELERS!
although i enjoy both watching the penguins, pirates and steelers, my level of enjoyment watching the penguins and pirates (even though they havent had a winning season in 15 years) is far greater. let me briefly explain:
the vast majority of steeler fans are complete and utter morons. the typical "joe-schmoe" yinzer is there to be obliterated drunk and yell nonsense such as "get 'dat 'der willy oughtta dat game!!! (yes, i actually have heard this before). also, most of the women that watch the steelers could either fall under the category i just explained or simply like the team because everyone else does; or even worse, just because they "look good" in black and gold or their new pink jersey with "WARD" on the back.
...yeah, that's about it. go pens. go pirates. go steelers; but fuck the majority of steeler fans.
