SKA TIBI, METALLUM NOBIS
Formatisi nel novembre del 2005 e con alle spalle già due EP, I Paroni De Casa(SIAE, 2006) e Il Giudice (SIAE, 2007), i thrasher veneziani HouseMaster tornano nel 2008 con un nuovo lavoro, intitolato J.B. (SIAE, 2008). Le cose, da un anno a questa parte, sono cambiate sia dal punto di vista prettamente musicale, sia per quanto concerne gli avvicendamenti che hanno interessato la line-up. Alessandro Barbin, batterista della band e autore dell’artwork del precedente lavoro, nel novembre del 2007 decide di lasciare il gruppo per motivi personali. Ma gli House Master non si perdono d’animo e reclutano nelle loro file Furio Buranella, poliedrico batterista che ha militato in numerose rock band e metal band locali, tra cui anche i Dateless. Questo innesto ha significato un cambio di rotta nel modo di comporre: le canzoni hanno ora virato verso una brutalità ed una tecnica maggiori, ricordando così, in maniera ancor più distinta, le sonorità technical thrash di fine anni ’80 - inizio anni ’90. Ne sono usciti, insomma, sei brani compatti ed aggressivi, caratterizzati da una trama di riff caustici tessuta da Matteo Pierazzo (chitarra ritmica), dalle linee vocali graffianti e “80’s oriented” di Pierluigi Cavazzano (voce) e dalle ritmiche trascinanti sciorinate da Riccardo Rizzi (basso) e dal succitato Furio, senza tuttavia tralasciare un gusto più melodico dovuto agli assoli e alle armonizzazioni di Massimo Maiocchi (chitarra solista). Anche per J.B., come per i precedenti lavori, le registrazioni, il missaggio ed il mastering si sono svolti presso l’Heartbeat Studio e ancora una volta gli HouseMaster si sono rivolti al tecnico del suono Michele Minosso, che ha profuso la sua esperienza nell’EP, donandogli una qualità sonora di cui i passati lavori della band non hanno avuto modo di godere. Novità invece per ciò che riguarda la veste grafica: l’artwork, stavolta, è stato curato da Jacopo Stefan, giovane e promettente grafico nonché chitarrista solista dei thrasher Sacrificator, che ha preparato una grafica visivamente accattivante ma anche sobria e priva di orpelli.
Born on November 2005, in 2006 and 2007 the Venice-based metal band HouseMaster produced two EPs: I Paroni De Casa and Il Giudice (SIAE 2006 - 2007). Their current new work, J.B. (SIAE, 2008) reflects changes both in musical style and line-up. Alessandro Barbin (drums) decided to leave the band for personal reasons. However the HouseMaster didn’t get discouraged and the versatile drummer Furio Buranella, who first played with many other local rock and metal bands (e.g. the Dateless), joined the group. This resulted in the composition of more brutal pieces in which the technical thrash sounds of the end of 80s and early 90s can be appreciated in a much clearer way. The band produced six compact songs characterized by some caustic riffs composed by Matteo Pierazzo (rhythm guitar). Pierluigi Cavazzano (vocals) presents aggressive and “80s oriented” vocal lines, while Riccardo Rizzi (bass guitar) and Furio Buranella (drums) pound their engaging rhythms; Massimo Maiocchi (lead guitar) provides a more melodic sound with his solos and harmonies. As for all their previous works, J.B. has been recorded, mixed and mastered at the HB Studio under sound engineer Michele Minosso’s supervision. Thanks to his experience, the EP has a sound quality the band never had in the past. The graphic presentation, including the artwork and logo, have been designed by Jacopo Stefan, a young and promising graphic artist who lent the cover a very attractive and sober look. He also plays, as lead guitar, in the thrash metal band Sacrificator.
