Books
Any thing by the following: Chuck Pallahnuik Elmore Leonard Dean Koontz Douglas Coupland H.P. Lovecraft Kurt Vonnegut there are others... if i can suggest a few books by each author:
pallahnuik start with 'fight club', then 'invisible monsters', 'lullaby' or 'survivor'.
Leonard: shit, where to start? obviously the more well known - Get Shory, Be Cool, Rum Punch, also Maximum Bob, Riding the Rap, and don't be afraid of his old westerns. they're wicked.
Coupland: start with 'generation x', then either: 'elenore rigby', 'life after god' and most definately 'hey nostradamus!' pick it up.
Koontz: watchers, seize the night, from the corner of his eye, life expectancy, intensity (a must read), shit, way to many to list.
If you have a chance to read Bagombo Snuff Box by Vonnegut. read it. great short fiction.
also: Roddy Doyle Irvine Welsh Al Franken Sweet Jesus I Hate Bill O'Reilly...
Andre has been drawing all his life, but has only lately decided to start exhibiting his artwork to the public in the form of digital explorations.
Although Andre's talent lays mainly in traditional forms, like drawing, he has been interested in, and practicing digital art for many years. Only recently has he been brave enough to start exhibiting his artwork to the public.
Andre's artwork explores various themes. Never wanting to limit himself to a specific genre, he will often explore many themes and looks. But sometimes, he will center a piece around a specific emotion or look, sometimes a single word. He often finds refuge in dirty and edgier pieces, but in those pieces is an articulately crafted attention to detail. Sometimes, you see Andre’s second love, music, influencing the feel and look of a piece. In those works, you can feel the sway of the rhythm or the whimsical dissonance of a guitar solo.
He doesn’t always expect you to like his work, but he’s does hope that his pieces will at the very least spark a conversation. Regardless, he still hopes you’ll enjoy it.
::Artist's Statement::
Literally before I can remember, I’ve been drawing. If there was ever a scrap of paper laying around when I was young, it wasn’t long until I’d scratch something on it. I could get lost for hours trying to bring to life what was swimming around my head.
Artists are one of the few people that get to truly enjoy the act (and art) of creation. It’s that enjoyment that has kept me drawing and creating art all my life. I might not be professionally trained, but art has always been an important part of my life.
Growing up, I was always set apart from others by my ability to “See Outside the Box”, to see what others cannot, and recognize patterns in the obscure. It wasn’t until quite later that I realized that that was an exceptional thing, something not to be taken for granted. So now it is time to share that vision.
