About me:
Inspirational Leader, Motivational Speaker, and now Author are a few attributes of DeVale Simmons. A native Houstonian who puts his heart and soul into bettering the lives of others, he has transformed many youth and young adults all over the world. His dynamic style captivates any audience before him. His method of teaching is comprehensive for any one at any level of education.
Don’t let his exterior fool you. Behind the tattoos and trendy fashion lives a warrior for youth. While traveling back to campus from a college football game, DeVale had a major encounter. His life was forever changed while riding in the passenger seat of a friend’s vehicle. One moment in time transitioned his life of partying, drinking, and smoking marijuana. Since that encounter, DeVale has confidently preceded forward grabbing others and encouraging youth to run with him.
DeVale lives by his proclamation: “I will do whatever it takes to reach youth.” There is no surprise why in 2005 St. John’s United Methodist Church placed their youth ministry under his leadership for several years. DeVale turned an ordinary youth department into an extraordinary youth ministry in less than six months, making it one of the premiere youth ministries in the city of Houston. He quadrupled weekly youth attendance to over 900 and produced events that drew several thousand teens from across the city. This isn’t your typical Sunday school. With vibrant teaching, an incomparable DJ spinning live, youth-grabbing music, video games, and a dedicated staff, you never know what to expect. Since appointed Youth Director at St John’s, many have witnessed countless young people embrace their destiny.
DeVale is a graduate of Prairie View A&M University with a degree in Business/Marketing. Having a background in marketing led DeVale to start his very own business, Nemesis Business Solutions, which focuses on graphic design and medical billing/collections and Home Health Care. With his business savvy and creative thinking, DeVale has worked with great artists such as Matthew & Tina Knowles, owners of Music World Entertainment, Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland, Usher, and Raz-B of the R&B group B2K. Recently he was featured in a Wal-Mart special with singer Beyonce Knowles.
DeVale continuously drives the standard for youth in America while creating towering goals for himself. He has currently released a self-help book titled “Let Them Come”. A Revolutionary book that mirrors real life advice promoting a proactive perspective for urban youth. Simmons attributes the content of the book to his ten-year history in ministry throughout the United-States.
He is the co-founder of Youth Leaders Inc. (YLI), serves on the board for the Greater Houston All Star Band, and developed Student Life, an inventive method for reach youth and young adults through arts and sports. He has also launched a new youth leaders network in which has join the most influential youth leaders in the city of Houston together as one.
