"HWF 2006 was a highlight of my year! The audience was energetic and enthusiastic. The stage production, the lights, the sound were excellent. I just wished that Mama Nature could have turned down the humidity a bit...but that's Houston -- enthusiastic audiences and humid air! You gotta love this festival!" - Ginger Leigh
”HWF was really well organized and there was so much energy
and enthusiasm. I hope to come back to the festival in the future and wish you all the best of luck.”
- Natalia Zukerman, HWF 2006 WinterFest
"In 2001 I had never picked up a guitar. I went to the Houston Women's Festival as a part of H.A.T.C.H. just to help with a booth. When I got there, I was in awe of the amazing talent demonstrated throughout the festival. I watched the performers and was totally inspired and said, half jokingly, "I wanna play here next year," and I did. The very next year, I was performing on the side stage -playing for a very large group of people- who I didn't see until the lights went out in the middle of my set. That was crazy fun! The year after that I played on the main stage alongside names like Zoe Lewis, Liviya Compean, Nini Camps, Anne Heaton, Michelle Malone, Melissa Ferrick, Edie Carey and others! It was such an awesome day- but nothing will ever beat the feeling I got, two years prior- walking up to that festival simply as a volunteer with no musical aspirations and being so inspired by so much amazing art done by women that I actually began playing, made a CD and started doing music professionally!! I love the Houston Women's Festival so much and I can only hope it affects others the way it affected me! I don't know where I'd be right now if I had never participated."
- Sarah Golden, HWF 2002, 2003
" The Houston Womens Festival is a great thing! I've been fortunate to play it on 3 different occasions and though each year had its own character, the through line has always been MUSIC and COMMUNITY. I've always felt welcome and encouraged to be who i am and to do what i do. Here's to many more years!"
- Nini Camps, HWF 2002, 2003, & 2004
"HWF...Halcyon girls, Deb & Steph here. What an honor is has been for us to be a part of your festival not only once, but twice and ALMOST three times (damn those hurricanes)! The hospitality is southern at it's finest, and the audience is always so receptive to our music and antics! All we can say now, is, anytime, ladies, anytime."
