I dream of competing in the BAJA 1000. I think it would be a great experience and an incredible accomplishment. And a hell of a lot of fun.

Television
Half of the Discovery Channel shows, for starters, along with a lot of the stuff on National Geographic. Numbers, CSI, Monk, Scrubs, that A&E show "Airline," and and of course some of the [Adult Swim] lineup: Family Guy, Futurama, Samurai Champloo, Fullmetal Alchemist, The Boondocks, and Wolf's Rain (which I believe is an incredibly philosophical and deep portrayal of the world).
And then there's Monty Python:

Books
Stephen King is my favorite author. He really knows how to write so that, even though you're reading about things that you've never seen (and usually don't exist), you can envision it as if you're in the story yourself. And I love his ability to make you feel the need to read the whole story at once, because after only ten pages you just have to know how it ends. I also admire Dan Brown. Whether you agree with the implications of Da Vinci Code or not, at some level you just have to admire a man who can string you along for hundreds of pages, and then suddenly throw in a plot twist so significant and so unexpected that you're not sure you even know your own name anymore. I also admire the research and commitment he puts into his work. It's unparalleled.

About me: The name's Steve and next year I'll be one of about 1,500 people making the pilgrimage to Mexico's Baja peninsula to challenge the most brutal automotive race in the world. One of my friends said I must have a death wish. I don't. It's not that I want to die, it's that I want to live. I want to experience the most this world has to offer. And when you think about it, what better way to live? It's certainly something just about nobody around here can say they've done.
To get the physical out of the way, or as J.D. Salinger said it "all that David Copperfield type crap" I'm a dead even six feet tall. I've got black hair, brown eyes that people sometimes say look black, tan skin which makes me look almost Hispanic (I'm not. My ma's white and my pa's black). I work at my dad's funeral home, and I run a small video production company. I'm also the technical director for the NESN television show "NASCAR New England". Oh. And I'm in college. So my plate's kinda full.
Of course, that's not who I AM. Who I am is an active person who revels in the outdoors. I like mountain biking, hiking, skateboarding, snowboarding, and just driving around. I think one of the coolest things to do around here is climb Mt. Holyoke in Hadley. At the same time, though, many of my interests lie inside. I think one of the greatest things in the world is a good book. I'm a movie junkie (after all, it is my industry), I like to write occasionally (stories mostly), and i love music, mostly rock and alternative. Hmmm. What else? Maybe I'm too tired. Maybe i'm just too lazy. But I can't think of anything else I want to add. So if there's anything I forgot, just ask.

Who I'd like to meet: Maynard James Keenan, for one. Sal Fish, Dan Brown, Tim Burton, Danny Elfman, Richard Hatem (talked to him, haven't met him yet), Colin Powell, and you.
