The Texas A&M Howdy Club is an organization dedicated to promoting and supporting education, professional growth, service and scholarships among Texas A&M University Alumni, Students and Staff. We invite you come and be a part of something special!
Texas A&M Howdy Club ("Howdy Club") was originally started in 1981 as the Aggie Women's Professional Forum. In 1989, the group decided to drop "Women's" from their name and became the Aggie Professional Forum (APF). In 2001, the group changed its name to Howdy Club and presented a new image and web site, www.howdyclub.com.
Howdy Club is a group of Former A&M students that miss the good times they had in Aggieland. Since Aggies are unique and like to get together, have a little fun and remember their days at A&M, Howdy Club was formed to provide opportunities for Aggies in the Houston area to do just that. Howdy Club is most famous for its monthly Aggie Happy Hours that are held on the last Thursday of each month. They are held at various locations throughout the Houston area and anywhere from 500-800 people attend these Happy Hours to enjoy cold drinks and the company of their fellow Aggies.
In addition to Happy Hours, Howdy Club also coordinates and plans other special events, such as domino tournaments, football game watching parties, Aggie Night with the various Houston Sports Team, Texas A&M sports game trips and its annual Aggie Toob Trip to New Braunfels in the summer. Toob Trip is our largest event as we have approximately 300 people in attendance each year. We welcome anyone at all of our events as well as feedback on how to make them better.
While having all this fun, we're also raising proceeds for our scholarship fund that is used to award individual scholarships each year and establish a permanent endowment with the Texas A&M Foundation. Individual scholarships of $1,000 are awarded each year to current students at Texas A&M. Each spring, we accept and review applications to determine our scholarship finalists, who are then interviewed to determine our scholarship recipients the following year. Howdy Club also is establishing a permanent endowment with the Texas A&M Foundation. Once established, this endowed scholarship will provide an annual scholarship on our behalf for future generations. To see our prior year's scholarship recipients, visit our Scholarship page.
IMPORTANT NOTE: While this MySpace page is directly linked to HowdyClub, it is NOT regularly monitored by the officers of the organization. This is merely another method of spreading information about HowdyClub and its events. Please do not post comments or e-mail questions and expect a response from this forum. Any questions or concerns should be directed to the appropriate Officer. Check the current Board of Directors for the correct contact information.
Who I'd like to meet: We'd like to meet Your Money. That's right, we want your $3 every month at Aggie Happy Hour. Imagine if every time you went to the bar to have a few drinks with your friends, $3 from that evening went back into a scholarship fund for Current Student's at Texas A&M. Well, that's our underlying motivation for throwing these little shindigs. The $3 at the front door is a Donation, not a cover, and if you have at least 2 drinks, the drink specials we've worked out with the bar should cover your losses. Not a bad little deal.
We also have a variety of annual special events including Toob Trip, Bus Trip, Golf Tournament, Domino Tournament, & Shootout. Anyone who adds their name to our E-mail database will be given ample warning about these special events, But signing up to become an official member will give you first opportunity to sign up for these special events. If there is one universal truth about our club and events, it is this, You DO NOT want to miss out on Toob Trip because the members filled it up before you even had a chance to get the details. So if you're a Houston area Aggie looking to have a good time. Become a Member!
