“The Hum (forthcoming HG album). It’s a truly lovely thing, full of sun and harmony, with a few forays into cooling shadowlands for those who can't take too much in the way of summer rays: a bit SFA, a bit Byrdsy, a bit Fannies, a bit Talking Heads on "Giving it The Always", and dealing out a blast of blistering ska-pop on my fave, "Crash And Burn", it's 100 per cent Welsh guitar-pop goodness from top to toe. "Sunrise", meanwhile, is the should-be-could-be pop hit of Summer ’09. Check 'em out pronto or be, literally, in the dark.” Graeme Thomson, The Word
“A breezy collection of guitar-pop nuggets, and very fine they are too. Growly lustiness and angelic harmonies... think Grand Prix-era Teenage Fanclub given a tantalising Taff twist. A Welsh Brian Wilson.” Clash magazine
“A rich melodious sound, gorgeous sunshine melodies, strange yet beguiling. One of the best debuts of 2008. Buy it.” Electric Roulette
“Crisp, chiming guitars and sweet harmonies make Howl Griff and his band impossible to resist. Hints of psychedelia drift through the songs. Whether Griff sings in English or Welsh, he strikes a universal chord.” Palo Alto Daily News
“Guitar-led, harmony-laden, anthemic… like the B-52s jousting with the Super Furries and the Beach Boys. Impressive” Liverpool Daily Post
“Gorgeous guitar pop which has a lovely, loose, vaguely 60s feel about it.” The Last Post
“Brilliantly blends a gentler side with upbeat blasts – Howl Griff are stepping up in the ranks of their predecessors, the Super Furry Animals.” BBC Wales website
“Blending the psychedelia of The Byrds with the modern AOR of The Raconteurs and drenched in lush harmonies, Howl has created a unique West (Wales) Coast sound that ranks alongside the Super Furry Animals and Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci.” The Joy Collective
Mae Howl Griff yn gerddor ac yn wenynwr o Aberystwyth, Bae Ceredigion.
"Mae dau beth pwysig yn fy mywyd, gwenyn a miwsig. Mae fy'n arbrofion gwaed yn dangos digon o wenwyn gwenyn i ladd person normal. Mae'n rhaid fy mod wedi cyfarwyddo gyda fe!"
Howl Griff is a musician and beekeeper from Aberystwyth, West Wales.
"I've been around two things all my life," he says, "bees and music. I've been stung so many times, that my blood tests show enough venom to kill a normal person. I guess you just get used to it."
"Melnik City", our new album will be released very soon... There's a foretaste on our Space... Please listen to "The Great Civil War"... If you like this one, come back later for more... Thanks, Melnik
