howling dervishes originally formed in 1982. one of the few (maybe only) dallas bands to survive the transition of the early dallas punk scene (hot klub), mid period (twilite room), and beyond (deep ellum/theatre gallery). constant members are tom battles (lithium xmas/tex edwards/etc...) and chuck rose (cringe/johnny carrol/etc.) accompanied by a slew of drummers (chuck spurlock/gitiim/etc...). opened gigs for bad brains, butthole surfers, the del fuegos, new bohemians, stickmen with rayguns, 3 on a hill, end over end, savage republic, the hickoids, chron gen, true believers etc...
