Got into Rock n Roll as a nipper in the 1970's thanks to the Fonz,Darts,Rocky Sharpe and the Replays, Then The Jets,Polecats, Stray Cats followed by The Cramps,The Meteors, Guana Batz, King Kurt etc In-between I got into R'n'B when I was a little scooter boy aged 13-16 Whilst all me mates loved The Who's Quadraphenia I always played the soundtrack with James Brown etc. Then in 1984 after a few years as an ace face!! I heard the Meteors and King Kurt and The Cramps.I started getting a Cramps 'zine from the States called "Next Big Thing".It was this mag and various sleeve notes that taught me about 60's Garage Punk... I swopped the lights and mirrors on me Lammy for a vicious cut down frame and a 30mil carb... By '86 I had opened "Pete's Clothing Store" selling quality vintage clothing aquired from American Classics in Kings Road and Phaze clothing for the Gothicly inclined amogst you. I also sold Hip-Hop Fashion pretty early on, I sold all the B-Boy and Def-Jam type clothing. I stocked Joe Bloggs long b4 anybody in the area. I sold the cheapest DMs for miles, stocked Indian silver jewellery b4 the markets round here knew what it was!!!! I also had a pyramid of assorted hair pomades on my counter. This was when it all came from the States. Nowadays ASDAS sell bloody DAX, In them days it was like rockin' 'orse shit. At this time I also rediscovered Doo-Wop, Hillbilly Rock and Rockin' Blues. A messy divorce, and a drink problem (I only had one mouth) and the shop was shut. Just b4 that happenned I put on my first gig which went brilliantly as far as the entertainment goes... (Cheers Howard!) In '88 I arrived in Southampton bequiffed and into a well paid job. It didnt take long to discover the local Alternative nightclubs. At one of these, namely The Escape Club the DJ there had just returned from a holiday on the Balearic. So by pure chance I was going to Acid House clubs at the birth of the Genre. Headscarves and windmill dancing!!! Consequently I raved & rioted (I'd managed to move into a bus and go CRUSTY for a few years) my way through til 97. Met ANGIE who decided to save my life. Rekindled my love of 50s/60s RnB, Early soul and vintage Jamaican Tunes. I DJ'd at some of the countries top Rhythm 'n' Blues nights (they're everywhere now) But as my tastes got wilder the scene backlashed and many Northern Soul nights that played R'n'B now only play modern soul. In late 2006 I DJ'd at Grimsby/Cleethorpes BURLESQUE co-operative THE CATS PYJAMAS first revue. The biggest compliment I could've been paid was when Beatrix von Bourbon dispensed with her recorded music and just told me to carry on playing. One of the other dancers that night (OPHELIA BITZ) was shocked to find that I had the track she wanted to dance to. Now in 2009 my collection of tunes is monsterous, what I aint got on vintage vinyl, I'll get on reissue, or CD or MP3. I just gathered all my rockin tunes from 3 computers and from one of them thar gizmos wot turns vinyl into MP3s onto one hardrive and I'm up to 90gig so far. Oh yeah! Me an' Angie love tattoos too!!In September 2009, I left the Cats Pyjamas SO IF ANYONE WANTS AN EXPERIENCED BURLESQUE DJ I'M YER MAN.
