The Howlin’ Prowler started off as just a glimmer in the eye of two brothers looking to take their tailgating experience to the next level. Through hours of searching ebay for a vehicle worthy of supporting the Wolfpack nation, the Howlin’ Prowler was born. Bought for just $815 on ebay there was a lot of work to be done. The journey began as a 1,800 mile trek from Denver, CO to Raleigh, NC. While the journey didn’t have the best of starts, things came together, and the Prowler was on its way home. Initially sporting a Carolina blue paint scheme it made it hard to see the potential, but deep down the Prowler was bleeding NC State Red.
Starting in Colorado the journey took us through Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, and finally to North Carolina. Pitstops were made at the Kansas City Motor Speedway, St Louis archway, and who could forget the Willie Nelson and Friends museum. Three days later and over 275 gallons of gas (the Prowler was only getting about 7 miles to the gallon) the Prowler had arrived to its new home in Raleigh.
With the Prowler still sporting the Carolina blue, this quickly became the first order of business. This issue was corrected with an NC State Red, Black, and White paint scheme. Decals were then laid showcasing the original Howlin’ Prowler logo. And from there we went to work on the interior. Seats were rearranged and covered. Tables, TV, power inverter, and entertainment center were installed and the Howlin’ Prowler was ready for its first season of tailgating for the 2005 football season.
Many bus tours were given and most were greeted with complimentary Howlin’ Prowler beer koozies. The Howlin’ Prowler had now set it’s mark on NC State football.
Through the last couple of years, further enhancements have been made. In 2006, a freedom grill was added to the Prowler along with a surround sound stereo system, a retractable RV DirecTV satellite dish, and a three battery power inverter system. In 2007, the newest additions include a 37" flat panel TV on a pivoting arm to allow TV viewing inside and outside of the Prowler. Also a retractable awning is being added to shade the drunken owners and bystanders in preparation of the big games.
From an $815 purchase off ebay, a lot of sweat and a lot of hours were put into making the Howlin’ Prowler the icon it is today. Hopes are high for the 2007 season of NC State football and the Howlin’ Prowler. Come one, come all, everyone is welcome to come and enjoy this ultimate tailgating experience.
Ahh...the triumphant return of THE PROWLER! Thank you for your hospitality, and good job maintaining the standard for NC State tailgating. Nobody does it better.
Thanks alot for the invite. Can't wait for football this year! Basketball this year we went over our 4 loss limit. Hope we can make a bowl this year. Either way, I'll be there home and away, GO PACK!
Sweet rig! I would love to see it sometime! I park over in the East lot so it would be one hell of a drunkin' trek to the Trinity Lot. Anyway, very impressive and great work!!
Thanks so much for accepting the add and joining the street team. Hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment on which song you liked the best. Also Untold will be playing at Jesters Pub in Fayetteville on September 7th. It's gonna be a damn good show and it would rock if you could come out and chill with us!
Thanks again for the support and i hope you have a good one!
