How Machines Work are a band with a history that has been lived in short bursts. Emerging on the scene as a trio in 2003 - Justin(vocal/guitar), Simon(bass) and Jeb(drums) were quick to make an impact with their initial recordings.
As a demo the track 'Pilot Error' was picked up by Triple J and added to rotation as well as being included on their compilation CD 'Home & Hosed - The First Harvest'. It was later officially released as an ep with great reviews appearing in magazines such as Blunt, The Brag and Drum Media. The band also began to play live with a bunch of great bands in some of Sydney’s favourite venues.
With a buzz growing around the band among fans and within the industry, the band then hit the rehearsal studios to write material and do pre production for their follow up release. While this was happening, the track ‘Pilot Error’ was chosen to be part of ABC TV’s ‘Four Minute Wonders’, the resulting clip has since been played regularly on Rage, ABC2 and ABC on-line.
After a break of a few months, How Machines Work hit the studio in mid 2004 with Dave Trump(Sarah Blasko/The Church/Bluebottle Kiss) in the producers chair. The band emerged with the five track release ‘Address In White’ in November 2004. Lead track ‘Desperate To Get Home’ got the band some more air time on Triple J and Blunt Magazine strongly supported the band by including them on the cover CD and featuring them as a band to watch in 2005.
After just a handful of gigs, a combination of personal and work commitments meant various members were living in different states and the band eventually went into hiatus in early 2005.
Following a break of more then two years and with a bunch of new songs ready to go, How Machines Work are hitting the rehearsal studios again with plans to record some new music in late 2007 and play some live shows throughout 2008.
