Influences
So so many, but the most obvious(to us at least) were the Beatles, the Byrds, Love, the Velvet Underground, the Everly Brothers(mid to late 60's WB era), Pink Floyd(Barrett era especially), Buffalo Springfield(and Neil Young in general), Van Morrison's Astral Weeks, T-Rex, the New York Dolls, David Bowie, Roxy Music, Televison, Patti Smith, Spacemen 3, Echo and the Bunnymen, Rain Parade, the Church, PJ Harvey, Fugazi, My Bloody Valentine, Pavement, Radiohead, the Flaming Lips, Wilco and Built to Spill. To name a few.
Sounds Like
How to Build a Rocketship - Radiohead meets Beatles meets Pink Floyd. Okay, I just dropped some rather large names, but these guys had a wealth of talent, and put on some really impressive live shows during their short and underappreciated stint in the Old Pueblo. --Don Jennings(Host of Locals Only, KXCI Radio)++++++++++The two bass players, one gutarist and a ferocious drummer build intense, feedback-laden jams. -The Arizona Daily Star++++++++++
Like David Bowie being gang-raped by Radiohead in the Sonoran Desert--Steve Seigel(Music Editor, Tucson Weekly)++++++++++Often compared to Radiohead, and thus Pink Floyd, the band found a nice niche somewhere between those two with a healthy dose of glam-era Bowie and modern-day indie rock riffage tossed into the mix. Their live shows were often hit-or-miss, but when they were on, Rocketship could be truly transcendent. Last year's(ED-this was from 2000) self-released Thank You Easter Bunny is one of the best local releases of the last couple years. Check it out. --Steve Seigel(Music Editor, Tucson Weekly)+++++++++++Great dramatic, emotional rock - like the best of Radiohead or recent Smashing Pumpkins--CD Baby

I accidentally ran into Thank You Easter Bunny about 8 years ago. It's long stood as one of my favorite rock albums... poetic, transporting. It built this world unto itself, like a private journal of confessions and recollections kept by a 1950's father undergoing a midlife crisis. Wonderfully crafted piece of melancholy. Thanks for the nights I spent singing till my throat was hoarse, flying down an empty highway at unreasonable speeds.
Hi. Just letting you know I'm back in the studio recording the next two albums. Details on the Max X Blogs. I won't be able to answer many myspace messages for the next few months, so please be patient with me.
Things have been going great! With the help of some internet radio play the site is up to 10,000 Fans! Yay! Shooting to release new stuff at the beginning of the 2009. Hope you're well. - Max X
