We both worked for a record distribution company 18 years ago before we decided to set up our own company called “Essential Direct”, this led to us building a studio to fuel the distribution with our own exclusive productions and in turn gave birth to the Hoxton Whores as well as various other Pseudonyms such as the Disco Darlings and the Ransom series... ....Where did the name Hoxton Whores come from?.... Basically the Distribution Company and studios was based in Brick Lane, East London (near Hoxton) and the Hoxton Whores had a much better ring to it than the Shoreditch Slags ......Genre is a constriction you’ve argued against. But how would you describe the style of house music you play?.... Yeah basically we class all the music we play under one bracket “House Music” but people would go further to break it down into different styles of House music and for us quite honestly we play a mixture of everything from Tech House, Progressive House, Minimal house, Funky House, Tribal House, Vocal House & Uplifting house, hence the reason for just sticking to “House Music”. Generally as long as what we’re playing is working the floor we’ll stick with it!! ......What juicy productions do you have in the pipeline for 2010?.... We have been very busy in studio over the last six months with some of our strongest productions to date and have an armful of tracks just busting to get out but it’s finding the time for each release! We’ve just released our new 2010 remix of “Friday Saturday Love” (our big anthem from back in 2006) which literally goes of for us during our sets….we have a project coming out with the vocalist Sam Solace called “Vicious Fever” featuring remixes from Robbie Rivera, Jason Chance & State Of Play……“Chakalaka” is our next project to be released on Whorehouse, a massive disco lick that completely rocks our dancefloors….. and we have collaborations in the pipeline with Bass Kleph & the Stafford Brothers. On top of that we have “Staunch” signed to Star 69 with remixes from Lissat & Voltax, Dean Coleman & Gabriel & Castellon, “Devil Toy” signed to Toolroom & “On The Otherside” signed to WE Play so it should be a massive year!! ....Probably our biggest one to watch out for to date (kept very close to our chests) is a project we have with Cyko Logic & Ollie James that has been described as massive by the chosen ears that have heard it so far! All in all it looks very exciting for us this year!! ......Of all your touring destinations, which include Asia, Australia, Dubai, Europe and the USA, which areas did you find the most interesting, and where were the best clubs?.... For me Russia is the most interesting as some of the club designs are amazing with no expense spared, if I was to open my own club I would definitely take some architects out there to get a few ideas. The people really love there music and you can play what ever you like and get away with it. But Brasil is also an awesome scene and we love the tours as they range from daytime beach parties to private Island 24 hr parties with a crowd set to party…in fact bring on the next tour!! ......You’ve put out over 300 dancefloor bombs over the years. Does this make Hoxton Whores one of the most prolific production names in house music history? How do you keep the quality of your output so high?.... We have eased up a bit on production as I mentioned before we were banging them out to fuel the distribution company but now instead of spending a couple of days on a track we tend to spend a lot more time in getting the track to a higher standard that we are both happy with. We roughly work on one production every 2 weeks / month instead of previously two a week and we also now road test the tracks a lot more to make sure we’re totally happy!! Having banged out over 300 releases probably does put us up there with some of the busiest producers but as for the most prolific we’ll let you decide!! ......It’s been said that you have an uncanny knack for whipping any audience into a complete frenzy. What tricks do you have up your sleeves to make sure your DJ sets always go off?.... Our aim in our sets has always been to get the crowd rocking rather than so called education so we try as much as possible to feel the vibe of the night and work with it!! We never plan our sets and never are sure what each other will play but usually work off each other and have never played the same set twice in 10 years!! As for the tricks up our sleeve that’d be telling so you’ll have to come and check us out!! ......What can the crowds expect?.... 2 hours of solid house music with a twist of fun, plenty of energy and tired legs from all the dancing they’ll be doing!! ......Are there any club events around the world (which you haven’t already played) that you have your hearts set on? What makes it/them so desirable?.... Definitely would love to get on board with a few more of the larger festivals as you cannot beat playing to the massive crowds…..but being more specific i would love to play at ‘The Green Valley” in Brasil as we went there last year on tour after one of our gigs and the club is unreal, 8000 people ripping it up outdoors!!.. .... .. .. ..HOXTON WHORES COMING SOON.. ....Label releases..
