The Book is
the second short film from director James Raynor based on the works of
H.P. Lovecraft, the prolific horror author of the early 20th century.
His first, Angry and Moist: An Undead Chronicle(a
horror/comedy based on the Herbert
West: Re-Animator series of short stories) played at the
2004 H.P.
Lovecraft Film Festival in Oregon, USA, and has had a
positive reaction from genre fans, despite it's low budget shortcomings.
This
new film has a budget of £1000 from the Northern Film School and a crew of professionals dedicated to accurately presenting the twisted imagination of Lovecraft on the screen. The screenplay was based on two short stories, both of which were left incomplete by Lovecraft's death in 1937. They were adapted into a single plot by Richard Ellis and revised by Raynor.
