About me: I am from Iceland, and I have spent some years in Denmark but for the past 10 years I've been in Glasgow, Scotland where I live and work. I am a practising visual artist, but I also work as a DJ and graphic designer. I have done work for Jomi Massage (DK), Speaker Bite Me (DK), Under Byen (DK), Our Lunar Activities (GB), Bela (IS) Julie Maria (DK), Larsen and Furious Jane (DK), Our Broken Garden (DK). Please see the artwork album for images of work.
I DJ at Nice'nSleazy every week and have previously DJ'ed regularly at The Goat, Bar Brel and Oran Mor.
ALSO CHECK OUT THE HOT CLUB, A MONTHLY CLUB IN NICE'NSLEAZY ON THE FOURTH SATURDAY OF THE MONTH . THE HOODOO IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY DJ'S NOBODADDY AND RAFLA WITH THE HELP OF FRIENDS ARTISTS AND BANDS. CHECK OUT THE HOT CLUB PROFILE IN MY TOP FRIENDS.
For anyone outside Iceland my name looks like an anagram of several other names, which is why they in Denmark call me Rafle and in Glasgow they call me Rafla...
2's UP, it's ma fuckin birthday... Free Limited Edition Print (1/50) and an 80min mix cd (1/150) to the earliest arrivals...
NOTE THAT WE ARE STARTING AT 9 THIS MONTH, TO MAKE ROOM FOR THE TREMOLO BEER GUT (all the way from Denmark) AND BIG NED (all the way from the black lodge).
Two new songs from the new J. Tex album "Misery" - out 28 Sep. 2009 "Misery" and "Union Army" are the songs from the great man J. Tex first solo album. HepTown Records!!
We are very proud to welcome Rudi Zygadlo to the club this month for a special live performance. Recently signed to Planet Mu, Rudi injects skewed funk, wonky hip hop and polyphonic melodies into a glitchy dubstep sound that we can't get enough of right now, check out the tracks on his myspace: www.myspace.com/rudizygadlo
Residents are the usual two brothers and their mate with (almost) the same last name, we'll play a mix of reggae, dubstep, hip hop, jungle and I've been looking out a few wonky acid tracks as well.
Sound is once again provided by our very own system (below, photo by Spudd) and there will be some kinetic lighting installations by R.Thomson and ACD Ferguson as well..
Hey Hey, We are having our EP launch night at Sleazy's next Friday, 4th Sept. I've a promo cd for you, as promised quite some time ago. Hopefully you will be able to abandon the decks for a wee while and pop down the stairs to check us out. (I've a 17 minute version of Iron Butterfly's In A Gadda Da Vida I could bring along - that should buy you some time.) X
Rafla, thanks a lot for having us, it was a great night for us and had an awesome time. We'll definitely try to come back and play at the Hot Club. Cheers and loads of kisses!
