About me:

The mission of the Historical Relic Preservation Society is to promote the location, recovery, identification, preservation and exhibition of historical relics through research, advocacy, education and the dissemination of information. **The idea for HRPS came about as a result of a fruitless search for one comprehensive place to find information on the various facets of historical preservation. Additionally, there are many individual organizations and groups committed to historical preservation in one form or another that are struggling to fulfill their individual missions and goals. HRPS will be an organization, a website, a Society, where these various entities can share their collective knowledge and support one another; where they can celebrate their common passions and not compete for resources. Individuals interested in historical preservation can come to us, as well, to find information and facts, to find an organization to volunteer with, or to share their interests with others of like-minds.

Who I'd like to meet:

We have developed a membership program that has very reasonable dues, that we believe has valuable benefits, and that lets members be as much a part of the Society’s growth and success as they desire. **Annual dues range from $15 for Senior Citizen and Student Membership to $25 for Individual Membership. Non-profit organizations may become Non-profit Partner Members of HRPS for as little as $25, whether they are incorporated or not. We only ask for $25 from non-profit organizations because we believe they should retain as much of their own monies as possible to work towards their individual goals. If any organization is a position to do so and they feel so inclined, they will be permitted to pay more for their membership. Individual Life Membership is $150 and is payable by a one-time payment or in installments of $50 a year over 3 years. Companies who support the Society’s mission may become Business Partner Members of HRPS for as little as $100 a year, though like Non-Profit Partner Members, they may volunteer to give more. All membership classes receive a certificate and membership card appropriate to their class of membership, a one year subscription to the HRPS newsletter, and a decal of the HRPS insignia. Members will also gain access to the "Members Only" area of the HRPS website and receive discounts on HRPS merchandise, publications, and events. Members have the option of joining without any obligation to do more. On the other hand, members may also serve on HRPS committees and have voting rights. Committee members aren’t merely a part of the Society, they directly help with the effort to develop, grow, and shape the Society. We offer a discount of $5 off of dues to those individuals who join the Society with the intent of serving on a committee. We will also still contribute 50% of these dues to the Preservation Fund as if a discount has not been given. **Anyone who joins HRPS before the end of the year 2009 will receive Charter membership. In addition to the benefits of membership already described, Charter members are guaranteed that their membership dues will NEVER increase. If you pay $25 for Individual membership now, you’ll never pay a penny more, ever. In addition, if you receive a discount in order to serve on a committee, you will pay that same amount year after year, no matter how much membership dues may increase in the future.

HRPS will fulfill its Mission through four (4) channels. Each of the four (4) channels are unique and designed specifically to advocate for, educate about and support the preservation of America's historical relics. They are the Society's HRPS F.I.R.S.T. program, the HRPS official website, the HRPS Preservation Fund, and the HRPS Communications Network (HRPSCN).** HRPS F.I.R.S.T., which is an acronym for Field Investigation, Recovery and Support Team, will attend various history-related events (building rehabs, grounds clean-ups, re-enactments, paranormal investigations, fund-raisers, etc.) and assist in those activities by providing equipment, knowledge and manpower and/or by providing refreshments to attendees and volunteers. HRPS F.I.R.S.T. will be staffed 100% by HRPS member volunteers who will travel to projects and events in a vehicle equipped specifically for this purpose. HRPS F.I.R.S.T. attendance is available without charge to any nonprofit history-related group.** www.hrpsonline.org, the official HRPS website, will be the Internet's largest and most thorough single source of information to all things related to the preservation of America's historical relics. From historical artifacts and historical sites to historical preservation organizations and history-related websites, the official HRPS website will be an avenue for anyone interested in preserving America's historical relics. Visitors to the official HRPS website will be able to learn about historical artifacts, historical sites, historical structures, and historical organizations, in addition to finding venues to volunteer their time, share their knowledge, donate to a project and otherwise support the preservation of America's historical relics.** The HRPS Preservation Fund will be available to any organization, be it incorporated or unincorporated, for the expressed purpose of supporting efforts to preserve and save endangered or threatened historical American relics, be they artifacts, structures or properties. The fund will be built by donations and by HRPS membership dues: at least 50% of all HRPS membership dues will go directly to the HRPS Preservation Fund.** HRPS Communications Network: HRPSCN is the Historical Relic Preservation Society, Inc.’s network of video and internet radio programming focused on history and historical preservation-related topics and issues. HRPSCN video and radio programming is available 24 hours a day via the Society’s official website and offers commercial-free educational programming that appeals to people interested in a wide variety of historical topics. HRPSCN is comprised of: HRPS Live: Broadcasting bi-weekly on Thursdays at 7p.m. (Eastern) HRPS Live is the Historical Relic Preservation Society, Inc.’s Internet radio show featuring history and historical preservation-related commentary, interviews, news and opinion along with much more. Channel 4: History-lovers will have a destination every day on HRPS Channel 4 where they can immerse themselves and get inspired by the people working to preserve America’s historical relics. HRPS Channel 4 is the exclusive home of the Historical Relic Preservation Society, Inc.’s series of history and historical preservation-related videos. At HRPS Channel 4, we prove that people really can make a difference by profiling individuals and groups working to preserve America’s historical artifacts, structures and sites. Additionally, HRPS Channel 4 will profile various history and historical preservation-related events giving viewers up close and personal accounts of difference-making happenings. Finally, viewers are encouraged to submit their own history and historical preservation-related videos for airing on HRPS Channel 4.
