BROOKSY, formerly a bass player decided to move to the center of the stage so after many years away from music.
Brooksy picked up a six string for the first time about four years ago. He set to writing songs that documented his life experiences and observations.
Brooksy was mindful of two comments, one by DAVID BOWIE the other by JOE STRUMMER whom BROOKSY met many years ago at an Apollo Glasgow Gig along with Mick Jones and Paul Simminon.
BROOKS then a kid asked STRUMMER how do you go about writing a songs.
STRUMMER said 'SING ABOUT WHAT YOU KNOW ABOUT'. What better advice to any kid could one give.
BOWIE once said that he was not all that talented but surrounded himself by those that were and that is the truth of most talent. We all need help from somebody.
The Album 'CITIZEN' is in part a strategy based on those two approaches.
THE SOUND COLLECTORS live concept is simply to engage collective talents under a banner to the benefit and entertainment of the audience.
'CITIZEN' is essentially a lyrical/musical diary or snap shots of events, social observation and human nature from BROOKSY'S perspective.
BROOKSY is highly capable of diverse musical style and lyrical content whilst retaining a distinct sound and has indeed started recording the next album which will be similarly diverse as is the life experience.
Brooksy for one believes the beauty of creating something, especially something unique to yourself, is that part of you is permanently within that song, poem, picture, whatever!
Most importantly, artistic creativity does not have to be outstanding or the next big thing, it just has to be from your inner soul and you have set a ripple in motion.
If you follow your inner spirit you have created something very special like a child's first painting. Do it without regard of the opinion of any other individual calling himself critic but accept constructive critisism when offered in good spirit.
Honest creation for ones self or the good of another can never be justly criticized by any person.
The 'Shiny Thing' is in us all and if you cant find yours just yet help someone else to find theirs and in doing so the universe will conspire to help make your dreams come true if it is to be your personal legend. If not the journey will take you to places unimagined, creating opportunity and experience of life developing the soul, the true purpose of life! Brooksy did this for no other reason than he was able to extend a helping hand to a great American Artist VINNIE JAMES. Vinne came to Glasgow from the states at BROOKSY'S invite and recorded SONGS FOR THE LONG JOURNEY in BROOKSY'S garage/studio where Vinnie called home for many months. The album was ultimately reviewed as the best Americana album of 2007.

BROOKSY NOW KNOWS THAT HE IS A HIPPIE AS PER THE UNADULTERATED DEFINITION OF SAME.
LOVE AND PEACE IS PERHAPS A FUNDAMENTAL BYE PRODUCT OF HIPPIE CULTURE WHERE AS THE REAL TRUTH IN LIFE IS THIS, LOVE AND PEACE IS THE ULTIMATE QUEST BUT SOMETIMES YOU NEED TO CONFRONT EVIL AND WRONG DOING IN A MANNER NOT CONSISTANT WITH PEACE IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE IT AND SO THE OTHER TEAM GET THE MESSAGE!!
