Influences
Where do I start..I have been inspired by singers all my life. A few that come to mind...Polysterene (X Ray Specs), Patti Smith, Sandy Denny, Frank Zappa, The Crass, Emmy Lou Harris, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Dinah Washington, Jefferson Airplane, Mary Black, Mary Coughlin, Claire Martin, Clare Teal, Jamie Cullum, Cassandra Wilson, Carmen Macrae, John Martyn, Amy Winehouse, Pheobe Snow. And how could I forget the wonderful Kate Bush!
Described as "cool and classy" by The List magazine, Edinburgh-born vocalist Lorna Reid has launched her debut album Gypsy In My Soul. A collection of jazz and blues standards with influences from Anita O'Day to Peggy Lee. Congrats for doing that unaccompanied Lorna, very nervy. After all the concerts and shows I've done, I played at a nieces wedding, wrote the song and played on my own(unplugged) mmm. Very Unnerving so well done.
