   About ZARAKAN

ZARAKAN: artistic definition: A non cult, non occult, multi faith, non religious biased, anti greed, anti-violent, non political, anti racist, anti war, anti drug abuse; international live performing contemporary caucasian 2/3+ piece rock act, with the sonics of Euro metal, the ethos of American flower power, the soul of Africa, the spiritual depth of India, the happiness of China, and the love of Japan; putting over the general view that our short human life span is for enjoying and for learning, in the whole world as a community, without imposing upon one another idividualy, collectively, or internationally.

Monty Schuman: artistic definition = a one off guitarist throwback to the 1970s, who wasn't quite born then, and is still waiting.. Has spent over 22 years lying on a sofa watching the Woodstock movie. All love and peace. One of Jim Marshalls accountants best friends. Plays mean guitar riffs and slide guitar in a whole load of weird tunings, and makes up a lot of riffs in timings of 4 and a 1/2 beats to the bar, and 4/5 time. doesn't like counting to 4. (Hobby= biker/sea fishing/growing pretty flowers to put in ladies hair/drinking real ale/cooking Sunday dinners..a real family man, still looking for a wife .. doesn't carry a wallet)

Doctor Drum: artistic definition = the only one in the band with any aggression in him, and so much of it we are all truly thankful that it is used up in his drum playing under the chaotic guidance of Monty playing his 4 and a 1/2 beat riffs, while locking horns with the bass of K.M. A drummer who can play the feel of a song, and is not just a kit athlete. Very well known and well respected on the drummer circuit, has taught many, a larger than life character who is a legend in his own underpants. (Hobby= biker/archery/sea fishing/drinking beer, JD, red wine/buying and improving antique drum kits/judging talent contests)

Kailash Manasarovar: artistic definition = lefty bassist and vocalist who only works in patterns and pictures and is only just able to count up to 5 (sometimes). Gentle, kind, very slim and gullible, so frequently gets sucked in by women. Looks a bit slippery so he always gets searched at the airport, and continually gets pulled up in his old car by traffic police. Hasn't got a clue about bass guitars but makes up for it in other ways. Brain only seems to operate in theta state, so never remembering anyone's name. (Hobby = biker/white river fishing/red wine/land based altitude sickness pursuits/putting blown speaker magnets on the electricity meter)

Stamford Midlands: artistic definition = small town in the very East of the Midlands of England, with a population of Contemporary Adults, built at the convergence of the Midlands Rock strata and the Flatlands of The Fens; at a point of alignment between the Marshall Amplification factory, the Peavey Amplification Factory, and the Premier Drum Factory, and fortunately not far from the ferry to Holland and on to Germany, and close to one of the London Airports. It is a fact that the town has many underground tunnels. The last time a new entry point was discovered was in the 90's when a butchers shop oven collapsed into an unknown basement. In the basement was a passage going down, but had been blocked off some way down it. Many years previously, a bus fell into a hole that just opened up into a deep cavity. There is speculation that the tunnels were cut through the natural stone with quartz melting technology. The park with its remains of a "ring of oak" shows signs the town was maybe once a Pagan Axis Mundi. The town once had 190 public drinking houses, and is now dominated by church towers and spires, and together with the former monastery sites, are, according to documentation, collectively laid out to mirror the Taurus constellation. The town was also famous for Bull Running. Built largely of freestone, some with a high quartz content. Town and park is on Ley lines.

Adult Contemporary: definition = a broad spectrum genre term, to identify music for classification purposes.

Adult Contemporary: artistic definition specific to ZARAKAN = three geriatrics trying their damned hardest to regress back to adulthood, in a very contemporary kind of way. Underground: artistic definition = beneath the surface of mainstream activity, or beneath the surface of the earth.

Shambalic: artistic definition = the dividing line between chaos and order.

Artistic Disclaimer on "Shambalic Underground". Definition also carries artistic inclusion of subjects, contents, sonics, or other general natures from various sources; sometimes but not always akin to the metaphysical theory of the existence of, the scientific theory of the non existence of, the spiritual belief or spiritual theory of the existence of, and any previously documented and reported physical existence of any place thought to be:-"Shambala", "Shaballa", "Shambhala", "Shangrila", "Argartha", "Axis Mundi", "Lands of the Aryani" "Inner Earth" or any similar. All without implying that such places or states of being can or cannot exist, in this life, in any after-life, or any pre-life, or any other dimension, or parallel universe, or on any other planet, or other universal plane, or inside planet earth; and with great respect to all believers in such and to claimers of experience of having visited such, or having transcended to an elevated consciousness to such, and/or belong to such; or who have claimed to or who have actually witnessed "vehicles in the sky"supposedly or knowingly emanating from such.. All these peoples of whom have enriched and beautified ZARAKANs existence as ordinary surface dwellers on planet earth, together with an anti-greed rock musician morality; all in the hope to contribute to the re-education programme which is necessary to return human life on planet earth to a better state than it is today, by opening up to the theories of possibility that we may not be alone.

Enjoyed your material and would recommend The Windsor in my hometown Kirkcaldy to you if you're ever in Scotland gigging. It's a jumping gig and I'm sure you'd go down well.

Hi Monty, had a listen to Flatlands, really enjoyed it! Love the guitar. Being a 60's and 70's girl and a bit of a hippy in my youth, it brought back a lot of memories.

Elements of Cream running through it. Great stuff. Keep on doing it.
