Hub City's Junkyard Palace is a house in New Brunswick, NJ which dually serves as a space for independent artists (musicians, visual artists, performance artists) to perform or exhibit their work. There is no admission cost to attend events, but monetary donations are encouraged and expected so that artists can be compensated for their night's work and to help them get to the next day on their tour or the next step in the building of their project. All ages, sexes, ethnicities are invited to attend, participate, and socialize. Not only do you get a chance to witness art in the making, but you get to take part in the building of its foundation!
In lieu of legality concerns, we will not be posting event information on this page. To learn about upcoming events, friend us to receive Myspace bulletins, or sign up for our e-mail list below.
To Interested Bands and/or Artists: PLEASE REFRAIN FROM SENDING US BOOKING REQUESTS.
Due to the national foreclosure crisis, which has placed us in the delicate situation of having to move out by September 1st, we are no longer able to book any additional shows here at the Junkyard Palace. We will, however, still be putting on and promoting shows that we have already booked for the remainder of the summer.
Beyond the Junkyard, many of us will still be active in art/music-related pursuits. John and Cass play in Rapid Cities and are recording their first full length record, while John will still do occasional booking in New Brunswick for friends in need. Cass and Mallory play in Starfish Headquarters and will be making many appearances at local performances. Randy will be moving to Florida to join Dirty Money and probably tour a lot.
Thanks to everyone who supported the Junkyard Palace and making this one of the preferred places for great underground touring bands to play. This also looks like it may be the last incarnation of a house that has been putting on shows for about a decade. While we are proud to be a part of that tradition, we are sad to part ways with it and encourage others to pick up and move on where we left off. In reality, this is about much more than just music, and is really about community building and providing a space for free social and cultural expression. If you are in any place to provide a similar service to your community, we unanimously hope that you do so! Do It Yourself... Because if you don't, who will?
