About me:

What are we like ?
|
|
Hud Yer Wheesht are a 5-piece ceilidh band with a modern style, funky for the fast dances and laid back/jazzy for the slower ones. We are not accordion-led, and you can expect good tunes and interesting arrangements, with the occasional rhythm break but we don’t lose sight of your basic need to dance. The line-up is drum kit, guitar, bass, and 2 lead instruments: flute and fiddle,
or fiddle x 2, or fiddle & mandolin.
What kind of ceilidh band are you looking for ?

We play similar dances to most ceilidh bands (e.g. Gay Gordons, Dashing White Sergeant, Strip the Willow, etc), but the music style is what makes the difference. If you’re looking for a Scottish Country Dance band with strict tempo, that’s not us. If you want something a bit
different, with a contemporary style and the occasional rythm break, even between dances... that’s what we do. Short music samples can be emailed to give you an idea…
What do you get ?

We are an experienced and professional sounding band with a decent PA system. We keep the fun factor by sticking to the easier dances, and explain them if required. Over the years we’ve played at sports clubs,conferences, private parties, charity fun(d)raisers, and occasional weddings: in Scotland and abroad. We can also play smaller semi-acoustic gigs as background music.
