With summer fast approaching its definitely time for everyone to start planning their vacations. And even though things arent so bright on the economic front, the good news is that there are countless places to visit and have fun right here in California!
Starting off with Yosemite National Park specifically Half Dome. I had the opportunity to climb this magnificent rock several summers ago and believe me, it was an experience Ill never forget. Now I am not an experienced (or even a very good) climber, but the great thing about climbing Half Dome is that you dont have to be! People of all ages were doing it and having a ball. Youve got to do this for yourself its a rite of passage for Californians and to get you excited and prepared were re-airing our Half Dome special on Sunday night, May 3rd from 7 to 8 PM. (An inside hint you dont have to carry a big backpack and camp overnight like I did. You can just wear a fanny pack with water and nutrition bars and do the whole thing in one day its a lot easier!).
Of course all of our California parks are great places to visit (check out the State Parks website at www.parks.ca.gov) and weve devoted a whole week to parks May 11th through 15th which include stops at Whiskeytown, China Camp and the Wrigley Botanical Gardens on Catalina.
During the month were also airing our visit to the Trees of Mystery a good ole fashioned side of the road tourist attraction thats near the coast in Northern California thats beautiful and fun. Other stops include the beach at Carpinteria, Ferndell in Griffith Park, Art City in Ventura, and our two lovingly-restored aircraft carriers here in California (the Hornet in Alameda and the Midway in San Diego) which are definitely worth a visit.
The idea is that we dont have to travel far and spend a lot of money to have a good time here in California and its available for all of us to enjoy. Have a great California summer. The adventure continues
